Gurode Incident and Teammates reaction

After watching that video of Haynesworth stepping, kicking Gurode in the head, I don't think I recall anyone on the Cowboys team coming to his aid. Now, I might have missed it, but I think that is a little disturbing.

Yes, I think the players should stay professional in all situations for the most part, but why didn't anyone stand up for Gurode and try to knock Haynesworth block off or at least push him away? Again, I agree that one negative action doesn't promote a negative response, but the game was well in hand at the juncture that this happened and I wouldn't have minded seeming some type of minimal retaliation at the least. I even think Parcells wouldn't have minded.

Of course, in the end it was a good thing that no one else did so everyone would be available for the Eagles game, but this thought does come to mind.

This has already been beaten to death.

It looks to me as though nobody really saw it happen. Remember, they had just scored. The first thing they noticed was Gurode on the field.

Yeah nobody saw it. Everyone was "celebrating" in the endzone.

I still think Gurode should press charges.

I don't think anyone else saw it. It was during a TD run, and everyone was busy celebrating. As a matter of fact, when the flag was thrown (for the stomping) Columbo thought it was because HE was shoved after the score. Julius did his little TD dance and everyone else reacted to that...

I can understand how some would feel about this. But you have to look at it from all angles and not just your own opinion. What would you do if you noticed a player(Gurode) on the ground with blood streaming from his head?

You have to remember nobody seen the incident at first. My first reaction to something like this would be to get medical help out there as soon a possible then look for conclusions later.

I don't know if this was discussed in the other thread. But I finally saw a couple of good replay of it on NFL network. It seems to me that another TiTan player ( just to the right) of A.H. just stood there watching him remove the helmet, kick, then stomp Dre, and did'nt try to push him off or stop him/

Has anyone elese noticed this?

No one saw it because they didn't replay it on the teleprompter until WAY after.

Had they played it earlier, I think there would have been a brawl.

Actually there was a shoving match pretty soon afterwards. I am not sure between who since I have not seen the replay but they cut to a shot of Gurode and a lot of blood was pouring out of his face and I got a very bad feeling at that point.

This is ridiculous.
Nobody saw what happened until the refs explained it.
But then I do remember because I taped the game, and have seen it twice, that Columbo pushed Haynesworth. Then a little scuffle started but it didn't really amount to much.
If you are going to rip on people who should have done something then you should get pissed at Randy Starks(Titans)who watched the whole thing happen.
On slow motion replay you can see him watching it unfold.

Mixing in the law with sport is a bad idea. Much like mixing church and state. I think Gurode should reach a settlement to cover his plastic surgery cost not coverd by insurance, and any other punitive damages, and leave it at that.

A lawsuit in this instance opens up a whole can of worms that could ruin the sport.

How did the players react on your little Madden game? Does that little game have a scene where Gurode gets his head stomped in?

I got the feeling that Starks was stunned and just froze. Here's someone he practices with and plays next to. All of the sudden he's assaulting a man on the football field. It looked liked he just couldn't believe what he was seeing. Just an opinion.

Interesting, I saw an overhead shot of JJ scoring and if you looked back towards the line play, you get a real good look at what was going on. Bottom line is no one was looking. Even Bledsoe who certainly should have seen it based on the video's I have seen didn't see it, and it happened right in front of him. Bottom line is JJ scoring the TD is much like a soccer player scoring a goal. Excitement takes over and everyone is caught up in the celebration.

PS> Lets put this to bed. From Gurode's standpoint he seems ready to move on. We should do the same.

I share that opinion... You just don't expect that kind of action... All you can do is watch it unfold and then say to yourself, "What the f$%^&$&^$ did he do?!"

I wouldn't necessarily have called my comments a "rip", but whatever.

To better clarify my comments, if no one saw the incident or were more worried about Gurode's well-being, then it's understandable. However, for those who did see it like the Titan's player, I was merely inquiring that shouldn't someone have done something to retaliate. Of course, the Titan's player probably wouldn't do much because it's his teammate even though, I feel like in this situation even your teammate should have retaliated against Haynesworth.

And in regards to Columbo, like you said, they didn't really show that and I sure didn't see it or I wouldn't have said anything in the first place.

Bledsoe did see it and did nothing. He is a bad team mate. :D

Fortunately the refs saw it and threw him out. I am kind of glad none of the Cowboys saw it because it could have easily escalated into a brawl.
