I'm trying to figure out Parcell's motives concerning Gurode???

1) Is it possible that Gurode and Johnson may split time at center to keep both fresh as the season wears on?

2) Is Parcells using Gurode to motivate Johnson to elevate his game?

3) Is Parcells heaping praise on Gurode to increase his trade value?

I think its too early to tell one way or another - we are just now entering the 4th day of TC.

all seem possibly. Number 2 seems the most realistic. But remember, Gurode was good a highly touted prospect when we drafted him, he could play, but he never really got his shot at center. I think that Gurode has at least probably found a way to stay on the team, back up center, and the fact that he can play guard(sort of)

I think no.1 is a possible scenario. Parcells has to cover himself against injury. No one else on the roster has the strength to move the pile at center should Johnson go down. If we are in fact going to play smashmouth/ run-it-down-your-throat football we better have smashmouth type depth. I don't see Tyson Walter moving the pile if Johnson goes down.

When Bill says, as he did today, that he "made a mistake moving Dre from center to guard in 03", he is taking responsibility for some of Gurode's failure.

Rightfully, imo.

I think Tuna legitimately wants the player he told "I won't let you fail" to make it.

Games might be being played re motivation, but I don't think Bill wants Dre out via trade or release.
