Foolish is saying that you don't expect Romo to perform at the same level as McUnknown. His offense didn't allow the Cowboys' defense to stop a drive. He isn't making any excuses today. He performed consistently. Romo didn't. Bears offense looked like it knew what it was doing. Cowboys offense looked like it didn't know what it was doing for the most part. Romo leads that offense.

Just stop just stop just stop please for the love of god stop, you look foolish

Agreed. The Defense killed our offensive game plan, we were running it down their throats, Romo looked fantastic last night besides the high throw to Dez. The Witten and T. Williams drops before the half hurt. We could have tied that game had we got into FG range, instead they extended their lead to 10. MAJOR turning point.

Not watching TV this morning so I ask...is someone actually blaming Romo for that mess?

Romo wasn't perfect, nor was the offense, in general. He missed on some throws that I'm willing to bet was affected by the wind.

That said, I'm seeing universal support for Romo by most folks. I'd say it's 70-25, defense, with 5% on ST. Giving them a nod to when Dwayne Harris went down.

Nope. Pretty much everybody agrees this was more on the defense. On twitter, Dallas, defense, and garbage were trending topics. Kinda tells the tale.

The narrative:
Ed Werder ‏@Edwerderespn 4m
Imagine how much Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson, Drew Brees, Calvin Johnson, Josh McCown would make if negotiated based on playing Dallas

SI_DougFarrar ‏@SI_DougFarrar 18m
Career TD/INT splits: Nov: 64-18. Dec: 44-24. End this farce. RT @ESPNNFL: Tony Romo now has a career record of 13-20 in December/January.
Romo has a 105.5 career passer rating in November and 89.9 in December, but durrrrrrr narrative.

He's referring to a few of us who decided to point out that the defense wasn't the only side of the ball who stunk up the joint last night

If it was truly kept in the context of "that side of the ball" you would have a point but Romo seems to be the entire "that side of the ball" to some.

Probably because he's the general of the offense. It wouldn't make alot of sense to attack a Bernadeau or Miles Austin type of player.

Sure you could...if you observed something they did that caused the offense to sputter. Miles drop a pass? Bernie gets pushed into Romo? Murray stops on a screen route? I mean, there are 10 other guys on offense. All have to work in unison in order for it to be efficient.

As for the defense, I thought they played the run ok, but the secondary is just turrible.

Um...did you see the defense that Mcknown was throwing against? This was not a Romo throw it 50 times game, our Plan was to run the ball which looked great. Would you think Romo's a better player if he threw it 50x for 450 and 4td's? He can do that in his sleep, that was not the game plan, although maybe it should have been. We give our defense too much credit when we offensively game plan. We all said it after the Denver game...we'll never see that offense again. To this point we have not but IMO it should be our bread and butter offense based on this horrific defense Kiffen has schemed up.

Wheel the old timer out of town and get us some safety help immediately, also please put an offensive game plan together that realizes we have the worst defense in football.

Witten drop before the end of the 1st half hurt. We did not know at the time our margin for error would be that slim. But it is what it is. Bears did not drop passes. Bears journeyman QB was accurate. Bears play caller had guys wide open all day. So of course our defense stunk. But this offense has been togehter for years AND is healthy. So we should game plan to score 50. If in the process we score 35...then great. But you cannot GAMEPLAN to to score 24 points. What proof has this defense given you that they can hold up?

.

I just dont see a need to act brand new. When we win he's the first guy we look to praise, not the receiver who made the catch, or the linemen who held his block, or the running back who precisely executed his route. By the same token he shouldnt be immune from criticism in a loss either.

I don't understand this at all. Any player who fails to do his job should be subject to the same level criticism the QB gets when he fails to do his job.. The QB can't catch the ball, block the rushers or run the routes.

Part of the problem is that the team in general is about as bad as it's been since Romo became the starter. This off-season, Jerry decided to pay Romo like an elite QB, who's on his way to the HoF. That contract set the bar so incredibly high, there is absolutely no way he can live up to it. The guy is a good QB, always has been, and his story is about as rare as it gets, but he's not a $100+ million QB. When you pay a QB Manning/Brees/Brady money, you expect Manning/Brees/Brady performance out of him, and rightfully so. Unfortunately, Romo isn't even in the same conversation as those QB's. I blame Jerry for the unfair expectations placed on Romo, he's being asked to be something that he isn't.
