What is amazing to me is that ANYONE would listen to Nate "Those aren't my bales" Newton.

It boggles my mind.

How on earth this guy is taken seriously in the Dallas media area is beyond me.

I don't understand the correlation between him being busted for pot and him knowing more about pro football than anyone on this forum. You know he played football in the NFL right?

as an aside the guy did his time and does a ton of work in the community now, lay off the hatred for a man who turned his life around

well to me, what i heard today, was even better than last time,

smoaky talked about when he went back and listened to postgame of cowboys loss to giants, of romo's comments, T O's and wade phillips comments,

he asked him something about not winning in december, and wade phillips comment was well we did win a playoff game it was the bye week

and nate said, these young guys dont know what it takes to win and be champions, that the buck not to point fingers at someone for the cowboys not winning last 12 years in playoffs,

but nate said it falls on jerry jones and wade phillips

that to him nate, seems like these young cowboy players dont have the heart desire to be hall of famers like troy aikman, or like when emmitt smith, he hit the ground running to be the best at his position as a running back and michael irvin knew where he wanted to be and go, that these young guys have no ideal of what it takes to be champions, .....

just listen to the podcast, its on the ktbb.com podcasts, maybe DC or Theebs can post it, to me, those questions smoaky asked nate and comments hit the nail on the head;

I dont really think he is taken seriously. He works with some good people though. I find him to be kind of annoying, but in time that could change. I am sure he will be involved with the cowboys gameday stuff on espn 1033.

also talked about how when smoaky asked nate, you said on one of your shows last week nate, take the player out of their comfort zone, what did you mean by that,

nate said like when the cowboys got darren woodson, whom eventually was going to call the defensive plays etc, that jimmy johnson had darren woodson covering michael irvin, sure it made woodson uncomfortable, took woodson out of his comfort zone, but that made woodson a better player,

in contrast nate said, if you dont have roy williams cover wrs in practice, etc, how can roy cover slot receivers or tight ends etc in a big game, right there in the game, the player will be uncomfortable, but if you have him practicing for that in practice, when he gets in a game, he is more comfortable to do what he has to do.

just to me, lots of those comments and questions hit the nail on the head for the cowboys not winning playoff games the last 12 years.

so dont judge, listen to the sports talk show and then post a reply

thats right, a guy that has played pro football has a better grasp of the game then us fans could ever have, got to remember nate was all pro offensive guard too;

to me, a guy that has played the game has some insight on the game, and can give what he sees and from his knowledge from playing

Why is it so amazing and what the hell does him getting busted have to do with his football IQ? He's played the game all his life and on all three levels, he's played on numerous CHAMPIONSHIP teams, he played for one of the best HC's in the history of the league, he's close to the players today and has inside knownledge of whats going on at Valley Ranch, and he's close to one of the best owners in NFL history. Again, tell me why we shouldn't take Big Nates words regarding football and the Boyz serious.

Well if Nate really is that good, to be able to definitively discern which players or collection of players & coaches have what it takes to win championships, then surely some ownership group is going to snatch the guy up and put that expertise to work.

I won't hold my breath.

Seriously, I'm not trying to diss Nate at all. But some folks (IMO :) ) are way overanalyzing some of this and acting like they can definitively tell who has the stuff of champions and who doesn't.

Case in point, what commonality exists over the past 12 years during which Dallas has been o-for-the-playoffs? Not many. From Gailey to Campo to Parcells and now Phillips. Scores of players and assistants have turned over. Jerry & other less visible front office types are the common thread. Problem is, those folks were also here when we won 3 of 4.

We got hammered by injuries, retirements, free agency, the salary cap and some less than stellar head coaching hires along with Jerry's misguided drafting for several years.

But if folks can't see the new era that has begun anew in Dallas since then, then they just don't want to see it.

Is it all perfect now? Of course not. But I'm sick of this garbage about no heart or not practicing the right way or whatever the latest "we didn't do it that way" mantra is.

If its that obvious to some of these former champs then they ought to go make a bundle in Vegas predicting this seasons winners.

I love what some of these guys did for the franchise as players but that doesn't make them the definitive word on discerning champions.

There has been one champion in the NFL since the new millenium and that is the New England Patriots. Just because you win it one time means you probrably got hot and very lucky.

Oh I get it you attack Nate's character and its cool but when someone defends it then they need to chill out.

Whats good for the goose is good for the gander.

Oh and when Nate talks about the offensive line and the going ons at VR I listen because he has more access than most even within the media.

They used to make fun of him and talk about how stupid he was after he went off the air. It was really sad.

Dallas talks as if we all haven't at one point been busted for hundreds of pounds of dope.
