We signed a probowl LT (Flo), we tendered a probowl FS (Hamlin), we tendered a probowl RB (Barber), and this is after signing a 7-time probowl LB last week (Zach).

And we still are the only team in the NFL with 2 first round picks!!!!

:D

We still need to bring in a veteran receiver in case Glenn can't go. And we still need to draft a WR as well. I'm still waiting for the WOW Jerry spoke of. Will it be in free agency or the draft? Time will tell.

Nonesense. we needed a vet corner and a FA reciever. we have neither. we have done nothing in free-agency. just watch it's going to bite us in the butt.

I agree, however all this Moss talk is just Madden fantasy. If Walker can be had cheap with an incentive ladden contract, I would go for it. However, if he wants large signing bonus I would pass.

I dont trust his knee is 100%, so he is going to have to prove it to me on a 1 or 2 yr deal before we sink major coin into him.

My guess is we are going to pass on both and draft Early Ducett in the 1st round, rumor was Garret really liked him.

And what vet corner are we going to get?

As far as FA receiver, unless it is Moss or a healthy Walker, nobody left is any better than Crayton and company.

We will look to the draft for WR, CB, and backup RB.

You're probably right, I don't think we do much more in FA.

It's been only 46 hours. At this point last year, we hadn't signed Leonard Davis. Or Ken Hamlin. Or Marc Colombo. Or even Brad Johnson.

We have all offseason to add the "wow" Jerry wants -- through the draft, trades or even free agency.

Free Agency is overrated anyways-most of the guys coming out our either old and/or has beens. I mean the Whiners OVER-paying Justin Smith who had just TWO freagin' sacks last year?? The Eagles overpaying some system corner and some pint-sized DE?? So what if both have put up great numbers-it's not like they're world beaters.

With that being said-if we had lost Hamlin, Flo, Barber, et al, I would have been LIVID!

I hear this crap every year about how overrated FA is. and how we should just stand pat. tell me this folks. how many playoff wins do we have in the last decade? we need to fill needs. one corner is not going to fix this secondary. you have old WR's. no rookie is going to be ready to have a big impact. who's the 3rd corner on this team now Alan ball? give me a break.

I would say the only WOW to be had in FA is Moss and that isn't going to happen, I don't believe.

So his WOW is like his WOW last year. It's probably not happening. :)

I'm right with you Beast.

There is not a doubt in my mind that the Cowboys should have won the Super Bowl last season. The players and the talent is already here on this team for this to happen. Dallas just simply blew it against the Giants. There is just no other way of saying it.

THE KEY to consistently stay at or near the top each year is to hit on the draft.

Despite the occasional "oops" that happens to every team every year, Dallas has had very good production from at least three players in each of the last six draft classes (going back to 2002). These players may not be All Pros, but they all have played key role, one way or another, that has made the Cowboys a legitimate contender the last couple of seasons.

The last six drafts (2002-2007) have been light years better (and I mean LIGHT YEARS!) better than the garbage the Cowboys were drafting from 1994 through 2001 (except for Allen, Godfrey, Coakley, Ellis and Adams of course).

So the key positions really need to be hit on IN THE DRAFT, so that Jerry doesn't have to go out and spend $50,000,000 plus for an Assante Samuel (or 49 million for Leonard Davis).

Resigning guys like Ratliff, Romo, Adams, and Crayton actually saved Dallas a ton of cap dollars.

So for those sweating free agency, I tend to think you are getting worked up over nothing.

excellent post, i dont know why we didnt get samuel. this could of been at least a step in the right direction, now the guy is in our division! our secondary has been our downfall since woodson retired. roy needs traded or just flat out cut and we need to get the best cb in the draft. i wish we could move up and get kenny phillips, this guy and hamlin would be wicked.

theres plenty of running backs we can take in the draft like ray rice in round two and then pick up another cb with our 2nd first round pick. and its time for akin and james to be gone guys, burnett needs to be a full time starter hes proven it last year. spencer and carp got to get chances too.

as far as moss goes, i just dont see what we have to lose other than $ that wont get spent anyways. him, T.O., witten, barber, crayton would be impossible to stop on offense. our defense needs fixed first and foremost though

I'm already sick of reading why we didn't sign Samuels or Jerry should get the Moss to Dallas signing done, etc. Too many posters seem to think if we just restructure Romo's contract, we can do just about anything we want. Well, we don't have much cap space & can only afford (1-2) inexpensive FAs like Zach Thomas & maybe Javon Walker, if he is healthy and comes very cheap (beginning to think it won't happen if there indeed 10 teams interested in him).

BTW: Brad Johnston is signed to a 3 year contract so we won't be bringing in anybody else to back up Romo.
