Greg Ellis is a career defensive end turned linebacker coming off a torn acl...
Bobby Carpennter is 2nd year player, who isn't really a pass rusher...
Kevin Burnett is in his 3rd year, but had injury concerns in his first year...
The 3-4 takes depth at linebacker, and that is what we're going to have now. Depth and talent.
Ware, Ellis, Burnett and Spencer on the outside.
James, Ayodele, Carpenter, and maybe even Burnett on the inside...
we now have options and different depth to match with other offenses.
I guarantee Carpenter and Burnett will play a big part in our nickel defense packages.
As for Anthony Fasano... even if we run a 1 te formation, he is still going to be in there a lot to spell witten, and as an h back.
TE are huge in their 2nd and 3rd years...
Its funny that people complain about two of the hardest positions to transition to in the pros. Most linebackers and tight ends are not good until 2nd or 3rd years.
Its funny how people hated james, then loved him, then hated him again.
the guy has talent, the coaching just left him exposed, same with roy williams. That is why its so important that ken hamlin was signed. And Carpenter will do very well inside (and especially in the nickel).
Our nickel is going to be so sick.
I'm stunned that people are complaining about us getting a pass rusher, when that is what ruined this defense last year...
You wanted a wide receiver? Are you kidding me? We're stacked at receiver. And now we're in great position to get a receiver next year, or even a running back.
