After watching that joke of a performance tonight against the Saints where our defense gave up over 600 yards of total offense and let the Saints set an NFL-record w/ 40 first downs against us, it became extremely evident that the Safety position is a major issue in our secondary. Heath and these other injury-prone late round Safeties aren't cutting it. We're getting torched game in and game out at that position. Therefore, I think the team should take a serious look at drafting one this year.

That leads me to the #1 Safety prospect in this year's draft.

-I know it's almost certain we go D-Line in the 1st round but the Safety issue needs to be resolved. We don't have any money for a top-tier FA at that position like a Jairus Byrd so it'd have to be through the draft.

No thanks. Bama players never do mucb in the NFL. Julio Jones is the only one that have lived up to being great. Barron was drafted early and he has been just average this season.

I 'd take him over JEFF HEATH who looked small against the SAINTS - could not tackle

Yes let's ignore the defensive line in the first round again. Lets invest more high dollars into the secondary.

AND for the sake of Irony...Let's draft a player named HaHa since we have been a lovely time with our laughable secondary already.

Sorry for being Bah Humbug so early.

Something to consider. We should be building the trenches.

We have not drafted a Defensive lineman in the first round since 2005 in Spears.

That was during the 3-4 years starting up. We did draft Ware, Carpenter and Spencer in three years but have not drafted a defensive linemen in the first in all those years. From that time we have not drafted a defensive lineman in the second round.

So since 2005 we have drafted a total of 1 defensive lineman in the first two rounds.

Now again...Ware, Carpenter and Spencer were drafted as OLB in the 3-4.
Carp is long gone.
Spencer and Ware were going to be transitioned to DEs in the 4-3 but Spencer is done for the year and probably done as a cowboy now. Ware is injured still.

We went years before we finally realized we need to start drafting Olinemen in the first round. Let's see how long it takes before we decide to help out the other side of the trench.

we would draft D line in the first but will Jerrah ?

give me name Brain ? of who you'd draft

most of D linemen are not worthy of a first round pick
could get one ion later rounds I don't see any Warren Sapp's coming out

Too early for me to know the names but I am sure that will change after the season. Also thinking we should trade down to get more picks however that does not mean to trade out all together like we did a few years ago.

HaHa Clinton-Dix - #1 Safety in 2014 Draft

Does this team desperately need a quality safety? Yep, 100% agree. But If the trenches dont improve this team never gets better. Team has to draft trenches either side 1st two rounds and get impact guys.

It depends on who is available when Dallas picks. I believe in building the trenches, but there is no need to pass on the top safety when the only DL left is second round talent.

Haha Clinton Dix is the real deal.. If he's available when Dallas picks, no way you pass on the guy.. Ball hawk skills who don't mind laying the wood.

Undrafted Dlinemen are easier to polish to your scheme rather than undrafted safeties. Haha will be off the board inthe first 12 picks inthe draft anyways

I agree 100 percent we must address that defensive line and I wouldn't mind seeing another quality guard added to compete on the right side.

Clinton Dix is like all other Bama players. A flash in the pan. Besides Julio Jones bama players been a bust especially secondary players.

Bama is a team with a lot of good players and a great coach. They don't transition well.

Have you guys that love clinton dix seen him play or have you seen just highlights and read some websites. Sorry I don't see the great player other see. Did you watch the Texas AM game where he was always out of position. He plays safety for the best defense in the NCAA that hasn't played that many great teams. Look at the history of secondary coming from Saban. They do not transition to the NFL.

The #1 Safety is likely to go off the board before the Cowboys pick. If the Cowboys win 3 or 6 remaining games they're likely to be at #20 of lower.

Despite the reported salary cap problems, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the Cowboys signing 1 significant Free Agent; although, I doubt it would be a Safety.

I actually feel that OLine is as big or bigger need than DLine or Safety.

I think a players like Drake Nevis and Everrett Brown have more talent on DL than Bernadeau and Free on OL.

At Safety, I think Wilcox and Church have more talent than Bernadeau and Free do on OL. Heath has more upside than Costa as a backup player at their respective positions, IMO.

Yes, it sounds crazy based on all of the issues on the DLine; however, I have faith that Marinelli can build a DLine if he can start and finish a training camp with a set of healthy players.

I don't think the Cowboys running game is ever going to be good with Free playing beside Bernadeau. Without a reasonable running game, the offense is always going to be sporadic.
