In the comments attached to the article:

Haley is a type a behavior and will burn out very fast if given a head coaching job.
I tend to agree. He's volatile. I'd rather have Clancy Pendergast myself.

Talk about crazy speculation that is full of holes.

Good grief, he's grasping.

TODD HALEY’S STAR IS RISING?

Posted by Mike Florio on January 18, 2009, 4:55 p.m. EST
At a time when many league observers suspect that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could demote coach Wade Phillips to the recently-vacated position of defensive coordinator and then hire a new head coach, the speculation centers on guys like Mike Shanahan and Jon Gruden.
But what about Todd Haley?
He spent three years with the Cowboys as a member of Bill Parcells’ staff, as receiver coach and passing game coordinator. Haley left two years ago to become the offensive coordinator in Arizona, and he’s catching plenty of excellent publicity and praise as the Cardinals continue one of the most stunning postseason runs in NFL history.
It’s the kind of story that Jones could find very intriguing.
Then again, bringing Haley back likely would entail dumping receiver Terrell Owens. Haley and Owens had a problem in 2006, ultimately resulting in discipline being imposed against Haley, presumably for talking out of school regarding an incident between Haley and Owens.
The spat prompted Owens to declare publicly that his relationship with Haley had been ruined.
“There will be no more friendly nothing because I don’t trust anybody like that,” Owens said. “I will go out and practice hard. I will respect him as a coach, and he should respect me as a player. Anything outside of that I am not going to be able to deal with. Right now, we are merely coworkers, and that’s it.”
But given Haley’s work with a certain receiver wearing No. 11 in Arizona and the presence of a certain underutilized receiver wearing No. 11 in Dallas for whom Jones gave up multiple draft picks, maybe Jones will do what he has to do to get Haley, even if it means bidding adieu to T.O.
It would give Jones the ultimate pretext for dumping Owens. The owner could explain that he’s not admitting failure with Owens, but that the franchise is making a long-term decision at head coach, and recognizing that they’re hiring a head coach with whom Owens can’t co-exist.
Even if it doesn’t happen in Dallas, can anyone explain how in the hell Haley didn’t get even a sniff for any of the other jobs that were filled this year, and those that are still vacant?

This is no more speculative than the articles that say TO is gonna be cut.

Just writers trying to get views.

Oh, dear lord no. Just because he knows to call a screen, or quick passes against a blitz, doesn't make him a genius or a good head coach. It does mean he's smarter than Jason Garrett, though.

Over Shanahan or Holmgren or Garrett?

He'll break a rib reaching that far.

I have a better chance of winning the Boston Marathon.

I had completely forgotten about this episode. Of course it isn't TO's fault that this happened (the snitch...wow that sounds familiar) because he was a victim of someone around him who didn't respect him. Wait that is what happened with Romo and TO, Garrett, McNabb, Garcia, etc.

Of course to 50% of the people the fact that this KEEPS happening to TO is just because he has a bad rap........I wonder what these people would say if he were their kid. Remember the whole if it's everyone around you and you are the only common actor in the script.....maybe it's you.....talk your mom gave you :lmao2:

Haley is like a number of former coaches that wouldn't coach TO again. But hey it's all Jerry's fault that coaches don't like TO. I also think that Haley wouldn't be brought in over Shanny or Gruden but we are assuming they would be willing to coach him.

Awful, awful rumor.

If everyone recalls, Jones was enraged at Haley back in 2006 when he leaked information to the media.

Don't forget to actually get one-on-one match-ups with Fitzgerald... The guy who isn't that good, surely looks good, when placed against Garrett. That is the irony of the whole situation.

I do think a couple of guys from that staff would make a good fit here.

Haley is one, Todd bowles is another.

that would really require jerry to take a risk he is not used to taking though and he would have to deal with some crap for awhile. the city and the media wouldnt accept a hire like that until they saw results.

In fact, Haley as the HC with bowles as Defensive coordinator wouldnt be a terrible thing.

But no, I dont think that ever ever happens.

Just my opinion, but he deserved an oscar for that performance.
