-------------------------------------

The Cowboys off-season conditioning program begins Monday. Actually, a lot of players have been filtering in for more than a week now but just about everybody will be around starting Monday.

-------------------------------------

So what's Ken Hamlin doing tonight?

Update at 10:09pm Pacific Time, lol.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Think about the following.

Obviously he's not a lock to be on the roster because the owner has publicly said some questionable things when his name came up in recent interviews.

And you would imagine someone would have gotten back to him about those comments. And he knows his salary for this season is way above what the Cowboys would like to pay him based on the last two seasons. And there has been major speculation about the Cowboys looking for a Safety in round one.

So with all this going on we get word straight from him that he's still in CA on the Sunday Night before the majority of the (And maybe the entire) team will get together for their first offseason conditioning program and he's going out to the club tonight after being out there for a few days.

A few things...

1. Stop yourself from saying it's not a problem. When a guy who's on the brink of losing his job isn't at least back in Dallas the night before this begins I question his awareness of the situation he's in with the team.

As in he doesn't realize he's not on the 'can't possibly be cut soon' list.

2. Why do these geniuses feel it's necessary to tell us this information?

Even if he's back in Dallas at 6am and the first one to the facility in the morning why let the fans of the team know that you are going out tonight thru your Twitter account?

3. Just me personally.

This is why I hate when Wade makes every single comment so positive. He has on numerous occasions applauded Hamlin for his ability to get the DB's in correct place and be the leader amonst the secondary. I tend to think that in some degree this makes Hamlin feel like he's a 'Wade Guy' and that he's so valuable that he doesn't need to go that extra mile to make himself a better player/leader.

And I am not saying to be Bill Parcells and make everything so negative.

What I would I would like is for the head coach to be 'the boss'.

From there you tell me what boss wants to hear that a guy who is costing the company a lot of money for little production is headed out to Club My House in another city less than 24 hours before he should be arriving at the job site for the first big meeting of the year.

4. Look into the history of Ken Hamlin. He's a guy who not only almost lost his career, but almost lost his life while being the life of the party and having to be out clubbing all the time.

Something isn't adding up here.

Either Hamlin doesn't care. Or he's too dumb to sense the situation he's in. Or we are all just crazy and Ken Hamlin is in the same club that the 'Romo's, Ware' Ratliff's and Wittens' are in when it comes to the Cowboys players who are completely safe.

I know I am rambling.

But this team is close. For the first time in a long time I really think this team is close to winning it all. Deep down I was hoping this guy would come back and play like he did in 2007 and shut us all up.

And that may happen still.

But don't sit back and tell me there have never been ball players who felt like they were untouchable after hearing their coaches shoot them some praise and the owner handing over a big money contract.

Your thoughts?

@kenhamlin26 uuuggh!! I miss u when you coming back to dallas I'm tired of hearin bout LA

@RealAndreaKane be back tomorrow

So based on this, he's going to be back tomorrow.

Also, based on the way other OTAs have been, it's about getting the required workouts in. If I understand the way things are done, they have two sessions per day. So even if he doesn't make tomorrows morning workout session, he can still make tomorrow afternoon's.

Every year, we have the same people tripping about OTA attendance. It's usually the same people on both sides of the argument. Those for and against, dc just got an early start based on a couple tweets.

Like I said he could be there at 6am.

That's not the point.

Does he know it's maybe time for him to get back to being a little more focused on becoming a better player?

And he also asked TC about the latest time for workouts too.

I am a little early, but only because it's a guy in Hamlin's position.

If this was Ware I could care less. Witten, Romo, Ratliff, etc. Guys who have proven to me they are consistently good I think will do what's neccessary to stay at that level.

All Hamlin has done since getting paid is get worse.

And I guarantee you anyone who 'yawns' at this has never been a boss.

Like I said, I can probably name the same people from years past with their stances on the issue and maybe a couple newcomers who haven't been on the board.

If Hamlin were actually, ya know, missing OTAs, then I'd see your gripe. I may not agree with it, but I'd understand it. Until he misses any, then I don't get the need to fire off a post about something that hasn't impacted his work with the team.

Hamlin is a party guy. DC posted those pics of him, Davis and Tank a year ago i believe. Those photos really irked me for some reason. The guy is suppose to be the leader of the secondary. Hopefully this is his last season with the Boys.

I do agree that he is getting way too comfortable about his role on this team.

Seems like it's a "given" that he will be a starter.

Umm...dude you suck. Just because you "get DB's into position" doesnt mean your good.

If you know where everyone is suppose to be, why does it always seem your out of position, while not making any plays?

Get Nate Allen in here, maybe a little competition might wake his *** up. He feels a little too entitled while being on this team.

I agree with the original poster....and too many laughed off Marty Beez high school behaviour (including people in the organization) and it has grown out of control. First of all you are in the NFL. Secondly, you play for Dallas at a time when Dallas Cowboy football is back on the rise. You are not a comedian, you are not an actor, your are not a musician. We know who you are because you are a FOOTBALL player. So why can't MartyB understand that at the end of the day, his populairty will come and go based on what he does as a FOOTBALL player? His lack of focus is WHY he was not a first round pick...and it is ALSO why he is going to be out of the NFL quicker than a New York minute if he does not gain more notirety as a FOOTBALL player.

But Jerry Jones is part of WHY this happens. Hard Knocks STILL disgusts me. And I ranted about that a couple of years ago, so I will not go in on Jerry about that again. It is pretty simple both Jerry and MartyB and every other wanna be Dallas Cowboy celebrity. Just win. I reluctantly forgave Jerry Jones after many years for firing Jimmy Johnson, because I thought he learned his lesson when this organization bottomed out with 3 straight 5-11s and he hired Parcells. Then like a virgin about to get some lovin for the first time he could not help himself after 13-3 and blew his load before this team had earned anything with Hard Knocks. For those who did NOT pay attention, the STARS of Hard Knocks were cut the following offseason. The remaining STAR of Hard Knocks is MaryB, and he is currently at the top of the list for the next player who does not get it and is entering a make or break year. I knew Jerry was a very disturbed man when he could not enjoy winning Super Bowls unless he got the majority of the CREDIT for the Super Bowls. I said I wass not going to do this, but do you realize how SICK that is? Almost 20 years later we are still trying to get back to that level of dominance because of his SICKNESS. But again, I think we are on the verge of being a team that is contention year in and year out, and hopefully 20 years of frustration will force Jerry to allow the FOOTBALL people to push us over the top

Last night I was watching a re-run on the NFL Network of Hard Knocks with the Cowboys. There was Wadw Phillips treating S Roy Willimas like a Wade Guy - yucking it up with him and all. In the end, Williams did not produce and so he was gone a year later.

So I think it's naive to think that current players, including Ken Hamlin, dobn't get that if they don't produce they're gone. Whether or not they care about that is a different story, and for Hamlin, he still has to prove he cares. And her still has a good chunk of the offseason left to prove he cares AND to prove that will translate in better production.

What's important is for Wade and Jerry to have contingency plans for the FS position in case this does not happen. Allan Ball played well there last season, which is one possible contingency, and finding a S in the draft is another. So this all comes down to Hamlin and his ability/desire to prove he belongs; it's not about how Wade treats him - or other players - overall.

Wade always gives players the "space" they need to do their business. Right or wrong, It's up to players to do their business no matter how Wade treats them. If they don't they're gone. As far as Ken Hamlin, the jury is still out, and final verdict is for him to decide. And he decides to not take care of his business, then it's up to Wade and Jerry to execute the plan-B options thay have set up in the meantime. If for some reason no plan-B options are devised in the meantime, only then do I take issue with Wade and Jerry.

I agree. Wade being a players coach does not change the fact this is still a business and if a player can't do the job the team will look for someone who can. It is not personal it is about winning.

i've tried to say this several times and in several ways - who gives a flying rat turd what these people say in an entire forum full of idiocy.

you'd get more attention finding USEFUL posts on facebook and twitter than just flinging what people say back at them cause YOU don't like them.

DC - you post a lot of great stuff. you really and honestly do. but i'm getting sick and tired of these personal jihad witch hunts you go on pretending every little nugget that comes off their fingertips is some damnation to their overal ability.

you're now just stalking their every little word in hopes of finding something to beat them up with. do you know what he did for the last month to prepare?

no.

but you found a few words you can agenda-twist and you're off and running again.

wrong.

again, but what a surprise.

any boss who has time to follow every nugget of every employee that works for them to micro-mange their live 24x7 won't be in business long because his focus is all wrong.

you just need ammo for your "news" and you're doing what every other "journalist" seems to do these days. make it up when it's not there. you just even seem to be more extreme about it.
