As Cowboy fans we always expect to get the worst end of these deals when it goes to the league.

They rushed to get this done in the post season. Meanwhile Michael Floyd will probably play every down for the Patriots for some reason.

Jerry Jones on Randy Gregory ruling: 'We don't agree'

The Dallas Cowboys knew what was coming regarding Randy Gregory.

They knew, but they don't appreciate it one iota.

"We anticipated [the suspension of Randy Gregory]," said Jones, via 105.3FM the Fan on Friday morning. "We knew the circumstances.

"We don't agree with them but we do know the circumstances."

On Thursday, the NFL handed down a one-year ban on the second-year defensive end for what they deemed to be another violation of the league's substance abuse policy stemming from a drug test that was reportedly missed.

Some sources speculate the test was to be administered at a time when Gregory was actually in a rehabilitation facility, having entered after the previous failed screening that landing him a total suspension of 14 games.

"He's genuine in his rehab process," said Jones in his press conference on Friday afternoon. "I do have reason to be encouraged about his future.

"I hope and expect Randy Gregory to be back on the field."

Jones would not go into specifics only to note the case is still "active" and has a myriad of "possible outcomes". The comments bring to mind the Supreme Court battle between the NFL and New England Patriots QB Tom Brady over the league's verdict stemming from deflated footballs in the 2014-15 AFC Playoff game.

"His options are still to be possibly exercised," Jones noted.

"This is a highly sensitive time for comments."................

I hope they attempt a court related solution. If they treated two separate players differently, that's possible grounds right there for an immediate injunction and reinstatement until the court date if you can get in front of the right judge. What else could "it's still active" mean?

Ya it's not right and Goodell should be ashamed of himself. I don't have a problem suspending Gregory if everybody is treated the same. Bell can fail what 6 test now and only have 4 game ban. It is what it is but hopefully Gregory gets his life straight above all

It's the inconsistencies that undermine his (Godlessdell's) credibility as well as the NFL's. He is a heel, plain and simple.

I think the league would disagree on them rushing. The missed test happened months ago but they could not acknowledge it or announce another suspension until his 14 game suspension was over. Since he appealing it, he got to play those two games until his appeal was heard. It probably would have been over and done with weeks ago but he was serving another suspension.

There is no consistency in the NFL. Not in the way they handle suspensions. Not in the way they call penalties. Not in anything.

Gregory seems to be serious about beating his addiction. The league claims they want to aid players in this regard. So if Gregory gets the year ban, fine, now go give Le'Veon Bell the same thing.

This is why I am no fan of the NFL. I have been a Cowboys fan for going on 40 years but I have never cared for the NFL as an entity, especially now.

Its strange as hell to see the NFL construct an entity that is so adversarial with its own labor force. You would think there is a better way to handle these issues that is more constructive for everyone involved.

It simply stinks that these old stiffs running the NFL, Goodell is just a frontman, are determined to keep damaging the assets that make them wealthy. Its just plain stupid to ruin these young kids careers and lifes for absolutely no logical reason.
