Happy 84th Birthday Captain America!

My man!

Even in 1970, I felt that this was the guy! What took Landry so long? It shouldn't have taken seven games in 1971 to choose Roger over Craig Morton.

If anybody in Cowboys history had "it", that was Roger Staubach.

Happy birthday to my only true sports hero, an officer and a gentleman!

My childhood hero and still is today. The man, the myth, the legend! Happy Birthday Roger!!!

Winner.

My Hero. Roger, my Dad, and God. When I was a kid. Nothing has changed except now I have more heroes to add to that list which are my wife of 28 years who's been a trooper thru the last 2 years with heart failure, copd, on oxygen 24/7 , and bedridden. She keeps plugging along. And then all our kids. Roger started me on my Cowboys fandom journey. For that reason, I'm a lifer. In honor of those players and coaches. There is hope.
YES SIR, Happy Birthday to the great Roger Staubach, my childhood hero. Roger was and still is PURE CLASS, it is because of Roger, and other Cowboys greats that I will never change my love for the Dallas Cowboys. I also want to say, May God Bless You and Your Family Rayman70.

Oh hey, I appreciate you. Thank you and God Bless you and yours as well.

I worked at Kemper Insurance back in 1991...first job out of HS. I worked with a woman who worked directly with Roger and she told me she could get him to sign an autograph as an ex-employee. This is '91...no cell phones, no Instragram...Roger may as well have been on Mars and there was no way I was getting a free autographed photo of Roger.

Of course, Roger signed it - with a personal note - and it included a frame!!!

Michael Irvin is my favorite Cowboy...but Captain Comeback is the GREATEST.

Talk about a class act, that's Roger. The playmaker is too actually, tho that gets way overshadowed because of certain things. I wrote a letter to Dennis Johnson the NBA player back in the 1980s(I'll get to ⁹that). He and Larry Bird are my all time NBA heroes. I met DJ in socal, in his hometown of Moreno valley or sunnymeade as it was still called back then. Wonderful dude, class act. Long story short, He gave me an autograph card where I was working on a Saturday at the time with my Dad as his helper, I was just trying to earn some spending money. I was just 14. Anyway, nobody knew who was standing in front of us. But I sure did! Lol. He was renting a truck. We talked for almost an hour. Blew my mind. I was giddy. The press even came out and took a photo. Very cool. Our belongings got burnt up a few years later in a fire. We lost everything, including this card. I wrote him a letter, I explained who I was, and what had taken place. Know what DJ did? He sent me another autographed card! I have it to this day. I cherish that man.He actually remembered me. It goes way beyond basketball, it transcends sports. An act of kindness, and love, generosity. Dennis passed away just 5 years later by a heart attack during a practice or pregame, on the court, doing what he loved. From my perspective, he cares about fans and people much more than the game itself. It stuck with me my entire life. Made an impression on me as a father and human. He and Roger both. All class. None of those guys had a selfish bone in their body. They never forgot the fans.

You are very welcome, sir and thank you as well. I think it is neat that you and I both started watching and loving the Cowboys in 1973. I was 5 years old in 73, it was like I was born to be a Dallas Cowboys fan.
Very cool. Yep I was 3 ish . From the time I could basically walk I fell in love.
