Dallas came out and completely dominated a really good football team save the first 10 minutes or so. The offensive playcalling was much better, the defense played pretty well outside of a couple of long TD drives, and Romo appears to have regained his 2007 Jedi-like form. The coaches seem to have made some adjustments during the bye week that really helped. Most importantly, this team responded in the face of early adversity, something that this group almost never does. I fully expected them to fold as they have in the past, and they didnt.

Now, that being said, this team still has some glaring discipline issues and that falls on the coaches. We continue to commit stupid and costly penalties that championship teams find ways to avoid. Roy Williams has also got to get his act together, because teams will start doubling Austin and Williams will get more opportunities, but he played just awful today. Honestly, I'm still very skeptical that this team has what it takes to hit their peak in December and January and make a really strong run and they will have to continue this for me to get over my complete and utter disgust with Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett, but they proved me wrong at least for a week. This was one of the more impressive performances we've seen out of this team in several years.

As a side note, Terence Newman is one of if not the most hated on player on this team outside of Barbie and he doesnt deserve any of it. That guy is a very good corner and, for some reason, people love to hate him. He had several pass breakups today, and outside of the TD he played very well.

Yum Yum. I hear crow tastes real good after a victory.

This was a big win, but I agree that the mistakes must cease. I keep expecting them to. The good thing is we're 4-2 despite the mistakes. If we cut that stuff out, we could be unstoppable.

It must be nice (re:easy) to be a doom and gloom fan.

You predict we suck.

One of 2 outcomes occurs:

1. We suck. You get to wave it in the face of everyone that you were right. We salute your awesomeness and consider building a statue to commemorate you.

2. We win and you were wrong. Being wrong sucks... but its offset with the team winning.

I also have to admit they played better than I thought they would today. If it continues I'll shut up about wade until the season is over.

Miles austin is the poster boy for what playing with confidence can achieve. As long as he keeps that confidence I believe he'll continue to play well and help give Romo confidence as well. Nothing like having a WR you can count on and Romo has been able to count on Miles as of late.

This team will go as far as Romo can take them. Looking back, this idea of playing ball control to limit Romo's mistakes is just plain silly.

Tony will cost the team games, but the defense just isn't stout enough to win 21-17 week in and week out.

I wouldn't say that we dominated the first quarter at all....Romo didn't even have a completion until the second quarter....the Falcons had never had an opening drive for a TD this year until today.

I thought we came out acting like the team that did NOT have the week off.

The OP said we dominated except for the first 10 minutes. I have to agree. It looked pretty bad for a minute there. Then we took over. I loved seeing Matt Ryan get his *** kicked by our defense. I was tired of hearing about him.

But even the defense stepped it up some today...- saw a much more physical side from them for a change. Agree though it ultimately rests on Romo...hopefully Miles can continue to be someone Tony can count on. He's needed someone besides JW who can make a play for a while now. Having Miles as a weapon is huge right now, imo.

That block he had on Crayton's punt return was great. And that hit he had after Jenkins big hit was awesome too. Good to see our D showing a bit of fire out there.

Are you saying there's something that rings hollow about blasting anything that moves, loudly, for any reason you can manufacture or intentionally misinterpret, and then just say 'my bad, glad I was wrong' and have it swept under the rug because everyone's happy after a victory?

There's a difference between doom and gloom and realism. This team has never been well-coached under Wade Phillips, and the first 5 games of this season was our worst start in Wade's 3 years here. Realistically, things werent all sunny and bright.
