This is purely fun off season talk so don't start getting all crazy on me but I jut read this....

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam confirmed at the Combine that his team did attempt to acquire Jim Harbaugh from the 49ers earlier this offseason.

The 49ers' front office has vehemently denied talks occurred, but Haslam didn't back down when pressed by USA Today's Jarrett Bell. "There was an opportunity there, and it didn't materialize," said Haslam. It's entirely unclear what sort of compensation San Francisco was seeking, but pretty clear at this point that the Niners may be headed for a divorce with Harbaugh, probably after next season. It's worth noting Dolphins owner Stephen Ross pursued Harbaugh aggressively when he was leaving Stanford. Current Fins GM Dennis Hickey and coach Joe Philbin are believed to be a lame-duck pairing entering 2014.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora passes along "increasing buzz" from the Combine that the 49ers may ultimately have to decide between keeping coach Jim Harbaugh and GM Trent Baalke.
La Canfora reports Harbaugh and Baalke are "barely speaking," with "almost all" of their communication going through email. Harbaugh's relationship with club president Paraag Marathe is also "strained." Harbaugh has two years left on his contract, and is one of the NFL's most underpaid coaches. He's entrenched as the 49ers' coach for 2014, but the franchise may revisit the idea of "trading" him next offseason. La Canfora writes that he's "long expected" Dolphins owner Stephen Ross to attempt to trade for Harbaugh. Ross aggressively targeted Harbaugh to replace Tony Sparano as head coach in January of 2011. Well thank goodness our front office are all kin so they are thicker than thieves & don't have to communicate via email.

Oh man, dream scenario. A bad season with a Harbaugh lead beat down results in Jerry going all out and getting a real football coach.

That will not do anything. The talent acquisition still has to be there. It is not like he took over a bare roster in SF.

Harbaugh would not win anything in Dallas, no matter how good of a coach he is. Nor do I think he would want to work in this environment. He wants money and also power. He could only get one in Dallas.

He is much better at evaluating talent than Garrett.

Just bringing physicality and attitude to the team would be a massive improvement in the product on the field.

One or two games a year, tops. The infrastructure is still rotten.

Plus he looks better having fits on the sideline. He's good at that. Jason just clams up & gets beet red when he's mad.

For 3 years he could - given the money...dude has a huge ego and this is a big stage

That's my point there is not a chance he and Jerry could work together. Jim's personality is way to much for JJ to handle. It would never work

Probably, but I could also see a replay of JJ....immediate success and then a quick parting

Not that I see Jim Harbaugh coming to Dallas, ever, but what type of self-determining personality does Harbaugh possess that Bill Parcells did not have when he agreed to coach in Dallas?

Harbaugh is going to do what Holmgren did ... He will take on so much of the front office work for a franchise that he will drown in it and not be successful.

bill was at the end of his coaching career, looking for a pay day. even as a shell of his true coaching self, he was head and shoulders better than any coach we have had since jimmy

harbaugh will have owners lining up around the block if he is let go

Would Harbaugh be a 100 percent improvement over Garrett? No doubt. Do I think he has any intention of working for Jerry? I d say no chance. If he cant work for a competent GM, he sure wont eork for an incompetent one. You can best believe many owners will throw him anything he wants after the season.

Really? You can't tell the difference between an older coach who commands respect without yelling and blowing off at the mouth versus a coach who can't even get along with the GM who doesn't even own the team? JJ could barely work with jimmy.

That does not address my question to CowboyStar88 though. Even so, I think Parcells took Jones' offer more as a challenge than as a financial incentive. Just my opinion. I do agree that Harbaugh will be a hot commodity if and when he hits the open market. I believe Dallas would be in bidding for his service, but I do not think Harbaugh would accept the job. I do not believe his reason would be that the two egos would clash. In fact, I think his type of personality would relish trying to succeed despite any interference Jones might throw into the mix. He's bull-headed.

Parcells never yelled at his Dallas players?

I think we have different insights into both coaches. Still, those personality descriptions did not and would perhaps not preclude either one from being hired in Dallas.

Jones worked well enough with Johnson until his coach restricted too much of the limelight away from him. Time passed before both could not co-exist with the other. I'm wondering about a period where Harbaugh might be pursued by Jones and hired. I'm not jumping ahead to where they may not be able to live with each other a.k.a. the Johnson/Jones split after two Super Bowl victories.

I'm not talking about yelling like yelling at the players. I guess I chose the wrong wording. Jim's bravado is too big for Jerry to hire. It worked with BP because he was older and seemed to know how to handle "JJ". Jim seems to be the kinda that doesn't care what your title is I'm gonna tell you how it is and you're gonna like it. That type of guy JJ won't hire
