Still he didn't see any real playing time until his 4th ( and breakout season). I'm not a big brady James fan and the overall talent at lb wasn't near what it is today.

I know people say James was drafted later than Carp, but to me that is incedental. I have been patient with carpenter for several reasons. 1st was in his rookie year midway thru the season Ellis got hurt and he was moved back outside. He started in the playoff loss to detroit, and I felt he had a solid game. The ellis injury carried over into his 2nd season where he was eventually switched back inside. He had nerve damage in his neck that made him appear soft to the new coaching staff, he was labled and sat for the year. Wade Phillips comments about Carpenter where always the same "He stays later and is working hard and we hope that will translate to the field." This season he is getting more playing time and makeing more plays. Definite progress has been showed this offseason. Dallas has a history of giving up on players and they go other places and shine. Jimmy Smith wr jacksonville, Oliver Ross OT who went to the steelers to come into his own, ron stone who became a all pro og for the giants to name a few. Carp is not a ray lewis mlb, but then again neither is any mlb we have. Bobby Carpenter is making pregress and busting his butt to get better. He hasn't had one full season at mlb yet, without being moved outside. It is a new position for him, and he has had challenges absorbing it all mentally. This preseason he has showed good progress lets see how it all turns out by seasons end, before we cut him and he goes to the Patriots and becomes a 8 time probowler for them.

I see no big deal in the columbo incedent. Carpenter knows he has been labels as soft and a bust. If he has to go 100% on every play in every situation to change that perception that so be it. I would rather him be mr dedicated , piss people off, and get results, than not do it, and be a cool guy who is a bust. Prossman
Brady James is meesage board pariah (for whatever that's worth), but let's not confuse the two here.
Bradie James was one of our best special teams players by his rookie year. He had worked his way to part time starter by his 2nd year. He was a full time starter by his third year. Bradie James kept working his way up, and earning a bigger role on the team in 3 years.
Bobby Carpenter has been working the opposite direction in his three years.
