Hard push for Payton. Romo's only hope

Can you really put a price on winning. Winning should be the ultimate goal for all professional organizations. As Barry Switzer once stated, "Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you". JG has taken the Jones Family for a lot of money with little in return. It is better to lose money than to save money but not Win the Super Bowl. Jerry is not getting any younger and sometimes you need to pull out all the stops to Win. Witten and Romo deserve a chance to win a Super Bowl. A change of culture with a new HC may be the key to get us over the hump.

I'm not the one setting the price. You don't become a billionaire giving 50+ million for a head coach and bringing in Sean Payton doesn't guarantee this team a SB anymore than Johnson's led Dolphins. I don't see our FO spending this type of money on the HC spot.

Reasons why he would come to Dallas are as follows:
1. Sean has a great relationship with the Jones Family.
2. Recently got divorced. I believe his ex-wife and children are still in the Dallas area. I think he has a home in Dallas or he recently put it on the market.
3. Jerry will compensate him very well.
4. Being the Dallas HC is one of the Top Jobs in the NFL.

I definitely agree with your points. I guess it comes down to, is his priority to rebuild a team or take the reigns of a possible contender immediately?

It just seems like there are hoops to jump through for this to happen, and I just don't see our owners getting involved due the cost and difficulty. They believe that Garrett is the right choice for the team as built with Romo. I agree, but let's not turn this thread into one of those.

Makes no sense to pay the 25 mil left on Garrett's contract to only dish out another 30 million plus to bring in another coach. I don't see our FO spending nearly 50 million for the HC spot.

It also doesn't make sense to trade you whole draft for a qb either but what if that qb was Rodgers, Brady, or Manning? How about a HC like Bellichek? The end game is winning and if Payton is going to get this team to the SB then that price tag is probably not high enough.

If your correct, the we know where JJ's priorities lie. He would probably double the amount of JG's contract with marketing opportunities if we were to win the big prize. Maybe we should attack Jerry's ego and tell him he is no longer the gambling man.

Great to watch Arizona's formations and play designs last night. Lots of bunch of the receivers and really no overt pick plays either. Just bunch them up, run their routes and see the opposing defense get confused as to whom to cover. You can go long, deep or intermediate with that stuff. You can create mismatches and I don't think anybody would confuse Arians' offense for being undisciplined.

YR

And yet, without decent QB play, that same scheme looked like HS offense. They averaged under 14 points a game once Carson went down last year and limped into the playoffs and was one and done. Bad QB play will nullify any scheme. We have had very bad play from the QB spot this year, thus we have sucked.

My issue with Peyton is? that when we did have him our offense wasn't really all that great
and I understand that is a issue with personal/ownership but I just don't see how he's going
to make us "better" offensively when we all know he will never have full control

I'm not sure Romo would endorse any change that would involve Garrett being pushed out.

You say that like Rodgers and Brady were sure selections to have success in the NFL levelon draft day. Maybe you're looking at the redraft for those years they came out and not the actual draft results that yielded the trust GMs had for Rodgers and Brady.

Payton doesn't guarantee you a SB anymore the JJ did for Miami when he left.

Our FO won't make this type of investment at this point. We all have to get usedto seeing Garrett beyond this season.

Three things I'm pretty sure of:

1. Jerry Jones is not going to sell the team.
2. Jerry Jones is not going to hire a GM.
3. Jason Garrett will be the coach next year.

Understanding these three immutable truths, I can:

1. Change teams.
2. Remain a Cowboys fan yet become disinterested
3. Hope

Even though I understand the definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results), I also recognize that though it's the faintest of possibilities and virtually impossible, lightning CAN strike twice.

So here's to hope - both in the draft in whom we pick and a new season and the possibility that we could discover some of that 92-93 magic. I'll prepare my lightning rod. ;)

Whatever the case is he'll stick with Garrett and put his 30 million chips on the table. He wants to win it all and do so with Garrett, not some already perceived football head like Johnson and Parcells.

I hope we nail the draft again.

Why not? He didnt mind when they took Garretts play calling duties away and gave them first to Callahan and then to Linehan. I'm pretty sure he can survive without him.

Just put Garrett in the front office and hire Payton for head coach. There problem solved :D

Exactly.

Make Garrett the GM.

Only a guy like Garrett would see that as a promotion.

I think now is the perfect time to pursue Payton and let him decide the QB pick and let him develop the offense.

Championship.

We blew it when Parcell let Payton go.

Agree 100% let Payton pick the new QB and let him coach Romo for his last few seasons!

Any floats on what the Saints would want for him? I am thinking he would cost some serious picks.
