Not good enough to get into playoffs, not bad enough to get a top 5 pick to start really rebuilding. And the biggest fallacy that we have been fed over the last 8 years, is this team has the talent, we just can't execute. I propose we're simply not that talented. We only have the following that appear to be above the average... and you must factor durability here:

Witten (declining)
Ware (declining)
Frederick (premature maybe)
Carr
Carter (jury still out)
Lee (would be #1 player on team if could stay healthy)
Dez
Tyron
Hatcher

And that's about it folks... nope, don't even put demarco in there. The rest of our squad is very pedestrian and mismanaged and not led properly. We are a MESS

They need Mo to turn it around. A shutdown corner can heal a lot of wounds and when they traded up in the draft and proclaimed him the best CB prospect in 25 years since Deion Sanders came out it was clear that's how they viewed him.

If they end up missing on Mo.... and BTW I'm willing to give him another year before passing final judgement.... it will reverberate well into the future.

I agree about the lack of talent, but don't really agree about the draft position treadmill concept. I think that is more of an NBA thing. I just think we have so much money (Austin, Ratliff, Spencer) and picks (Escobar, Claiborne, etc.) tied up in players giving us basically nothing that it is too much to overcome.

That about sums it up. We are just not that good of team and not that talented. I wouldnt include hatcher on that list though as hes just playing for a paycheck. Next year he wont be heard from no matter where he goes. 6-10 7-9 and highly doubt it'll change much in the next 3-5 years.

You can make this list for every other team in the NFL because no team is stacked from top to bottom. Every team has a roster with JAGs...it's having great players sprinkled in there at the right positions that make a team a contender. That's just today's NFL.

You need a good coach, a good QB, a good Oline and a good pass rush to have a shot. The Cowboys have a QB and are sadly missing the other 3.

The teams that consistently win and make the playoffs in the NFL have at least 2 and sometimes 3 of the following:

• Top 10 GM
• Top 10 Coach
• Top 10 QB

If you have all three of those, it means you are perennially a threat to go deep in the playoffs.

Now, how many of those can the Cowboys check off?
