I wonder if the reason our game planning has been so vanilla the last few weeks is that BP has been saving some of the wrinkles of our new 3-4 defense and some newly designed offensive plays to use for the first time against Philly. Has he left them in the playbook and not put them on game tape for Philly to see and prepare for?
BP knows a win against our stiffest competition would be a major psychological boost to his young team. He also knows he will need to pull out all stops to win this game because the Eagles are still a better team than us. I fully expect BP to come out very aggressive against Philly and show a lot of new things we haven’t done before.
We gave up two winnable games by being too conservative, but beating Philadelphia would make it worthwhile. Here is what I want to see from BP, Payton, and Zimmer:
• I want to see Julius and Tyson running plays designed to get to the outside
• I don’t want to see all the runs straight up the middle of the line for only 1 or 2 yards
• I want to see some of the exotic blitz schemes this 3-4 defense is supposed to include
• I don’t want to see DeMarcus Ware pass defending against TO or any other WR for that matter
• I want to see some deep passes, early and often
• I don’t want to see 4th down passes short of the sticks
• I want to see Peerless Price an essential part of the game plan.
• I don’t want to see us playing only to get into good enough field position for field goal attempts, we need TDs
• I want to see Witten being used a lot, especially at the end zone
• I don’t want to see McNabb sitting there and having time to eat a bowl of chunky soup before our pass rush/dawdle allows him to throw for yet another long completion
• I want to see Glover and Ellis and Sprears and Canty putting hits on McNabb’s sternum and groin/sports hernia
• I don’t want to see our secondary give up a long touchdown pass for the fourth straight game
• I want Roy to make TO look just like he does in my avatar
