Has The Cowboys Pass Rush Really Improved, Or Is It Just The Competition?

http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2017...really-improved-or-is-it-just-the-competition

The Green Bay Packers haven't lost a game since November 20th against the Washington Commanders. After getting thrashed 42-24, the Packers have done exactly what Aaron Rodgers said they would do when they were 4-6; run the table. They have been in playoff mode since Thanksgiving and they have been on a tear through the NFL. So have the Dallas Cowboys, who have been the story of the NFC, if not the NFL, this season. There are particular reasons and stories that lead to where these two teams find each other at this time of the year. However, we at BTB were posed with a great question about these two teams that really make you think. Here is the query we received from one of BTB's regular readers

One thing that has been circulating around the Packers fanbase is that one of the reasons they have been on the seven-game win streak is that their defense has stepped it up. Although this is true, with a critical lens we have come to learn that it may not be so much that the Packers defense has stepped up as it is that they have just played inferior offenses. It makes me wonder whether our pass rush has improved or whether we have just played teams with poor pass protection [recently]?

What an excellent topic to discuss as it poses questions to both teams and really makes for an interesting look at this matchup come Sunday. We'll start with the opposition and speak about the Green Bay Packers' seven-game streak. The first thing that jumps out to you is the competition they have had over these past seven weeks. It is definitely a valid point that the opposing offenses may not have been the strongest offensive competition to have faced...

It won't be too much longer to determine exactly what each competitor has to offer.

If it's all about matchups, as has often been suggested, this should be a good one.

Will it be the team with the big aerial attack or the one with the balanced offense?

Will the Cowboys prove themselves capable of keeping Rodgers fairly limited? ;)

Stay tuned, the excitement is due to come to a crescendo in only three days now!

Mike fisher just said on the ticket, AR's record when sacked 3 times, his record is 32-32. He doesn't lie being sacked that many times.

He also said, during EE's college games, after having a time off from their last game and before they played bowl games. Zeke has averaged 190 yards per game.

Now how does that translate to the NFL and the playoffs...I think he will be just fine.

Please no weird plays and or calls in the Packers favor. Hell, we deserve one after 2014.
The NFL just keeps taking ratings hits. We are not just the story of 2016 we are where the revenue is generated and where the rest of the league needs to realize that they need our ratings to justify the amount of money the NFL charges networks to broadcast games....
So lets just say its in everyones best interest (especially ours) if we keep moving through the post season.
Sorry Packers, Falcons, Seahawks but its time you know your role and get our of our way.

Earlier in the season, we were complaining about lack of pressure against below average offenses and now we are finally getting some and it's because below average offenses?

Maybe our YOUNG players, some that are new to the system, are just improving as the season goes on...

That would seem to be the most logical.

The reason the Cowboys pass rush has inproved is quite simple, really.

Imagine padding up every single week in pracitce whole going up against the most athletic, efficient, and talented offensive line in the game, possibly in NFL history when it is all said and done.

You are facing three of the top five linemen in the game today. Each Sunday, there is no better offensive line that you will play. Whoever you face as a D-lineman will not be as good as the guy that knocks you around each week in practice

In other words, you either improve or you get mangled.

.......which is why our poor D-lineman has become both improved and often injured....a very strange combination.
