Has there ever been a more disappointing defense?

What gives.
I just can't seem to sink my teeth into it.

What other NFL team has had this many first round investments and substantial free agent signings invested in the defense and yet performed so underwhelmingly? Especially considering the addition of a supposed "defensive-minded" head coach.

On paper, this defense looks like the best in the NFL, hands down. The depth at so many positions appears to be the best quality of any team I've seen, not to mention the starters.

I am convinced this is a coaching flaw. Not solely, but primarily. The talent is there. But they continue to play like a bunch of loosely assembled misfits.

These guys are out of position, whiffing tackles left and right and getting dominated by lesser players on the opposite side of the ball.

Aside from D. Ware and maybe Z. Thomas, the rest of these bums really need to get it together once and for all. This is intolerable.

Canty, Ware, Henry, Row Willy and Ratliff might play hard, but they have the personality of Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man.

Wade and Parcells track record on defense speaks for itself. Their defenses have had success everywhere they've gone. It's getting harder and harder for me to keep blaming the coaches.

I never thought this D was great to begin with. We weren't last year, despite our 13-3 record. And throughout the entire offseason, I caught alot of flack for criticizing so.

I'm just saying where they were drafted or what they have individually accomplished at some point in their career makes them look good on paper.

No brains, no fire, no coaching, and terrible schemes. We're like a beauty pageant contestent. We sure look pretty in our (evening gowns) uniforms, but when we get in the trenches (open their mouths) our true character and lack of substance comes rolling out.

Yeah as I stated in the thread I started I think this defense has very little talent. Outside of Ware, Newman, and maybe Ratliff which of the rest of those guys start anywhere else in the league? Thomas was great at one point, he is old now. The d line sucks. Marcus Spears next big play will be his first. Same story for Canty. Ellis is moaning about a contract or Spencer somewhere. James is slow. And we all know the secondary sucks. Maybe we need to change the thinking. These guys are just not good.

The secondary can't cover and he LB's cant tackle...prescription for diisaster. But the Boys have been like this for 5 years. no discipline..Flozel Adams getting game breaking penalties..he knows no one will say aything to him...might make him mad. Bench his ***...and trade for a secondary. Jenkins was a joke!

See that's the problem. Most people think we sre really talented on defense and I think it may be time to come to the realization that we just don't have much talent there.

poor discipline and poor tackling are our main problems on defense now that i truly look at it more than the schemes although those are a problem too. and it all goes back to Wade Phillips for not holding his players more accountable for their mistakes and then for the poor tackling because seriously i still cant believe we dont hit in practice. that is most insane thing ive ever heard for a football team!!!! it makes no sense at all...
