More On Ray Lewis' Injury

September 10, 2007 11:56 PM

As first reported on Hashmarks, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis played almost the entire game tonight with a torn right triceps. Moments after the game, his arm was so heavily bandaged that he couldn't put it next to his side.

When I asked him if his triceps was torn, Lewis said, "Yeah, I think it is."

He said the injury occurred on the Bengals' first play from scrimmage. He reached out to grab running back Rudi Johnson, and then felt his arm pop.

"Someone hit me on the front of the arm, and then someone else hit me on the back," he said.

Lewis eventually went to the locker room, but he only missed one series. He said he doesn't think the injury will cause him to miss any games.

"I'll just keep playing," he said.

Tough one. McNair went out late, and Ogden went out as well. Injuries galore week 1 across the NFL.

I wonder how effective a tackler you can even be with a torn tricep?

Well he did tackle Rudi Johnson with the other one good hand... unfortunately it was a horsecollar.. and he got flagged for it, but still pretty impressive.

At most skilled positions it's a young man's game... That especially rings true in today's NFL because players are bigger, faster and more physical.

Who would have given an Anthony Fasano for that guy two years ago...

He has no heart...

Who has no heart? Lewis? Fasano?

Nevermind. Either way, it's a stupid comment.

Thanks !!

Ray Lewis could be had for a second round pick two years ago but he was 'washed up'.

Gotcha, I didn't catch the sarcasm the first time around. I actually thought you were suggesting that Lewis had no heart. Still kind of pointless though.

There is a world of difference between your triceps and bicep.

Before anyone even starts.

ESPN is reporting that the Raven's are claiming it isn't a torn triceps after all...yet they've failed to let us know what it actually is. Good stuff.
