Hatcher tied with Watt as PFF's top 3-4 DE this season

Mixed feelings on Hatcher. Did not want to resign Ware or Hatcher because I do not like paying age. However, I don't believe the "youth movement" thing is real for this team. Injury history in a younger player is not really youth to me. Youth to me = a reasonable expectation to be healthy over a couple or few more years. Claiborne, Lee, Melton, and possibly Ro McClain make the age #s look good but the missed games total will be awful...... and yearly I believe.

Meanwhile, Melton is injured and can't go against the Saints.

And Cowboys could have had a line up featuring Hatcher and Watt at DE and Rat in the middle with Ware coming off the edge. That could have been the next generation of Doomsday.

I don't. I hope he flops and is out of the league in short order. Because I want the Cowboys to make good decisions on players.

Oh. That's how you 're "always right."

You just decisions based on future results rather than current information.

You know the exact opposite of how intelligent decisions should be made and evaluated.

It's fun to imagine a salary cap doesn't exist, I guess.

But it does, and sometimes the decision you have to make isn't the one you want to make.

Everyone knew Hatcher could play. Contrary to popular belief......he's been solid here. He clearly hit stride last year in a contract year but the guy has always been a very solid starter for us.

But let's be honest with ourselves. We've cried and complained about Jerry spending money and not letting guys go quick enough. HE did it with Ware and Hatcher. Would I have complained about bringing Hatcher back? No. He was legit last year. But for that contract at his age? I was fine with a 2 year 6 million dollar deal but the money the Deadskins gave him can't be justified.

It took him a long time before he suddenly became such a force. Strange. I might have let him go too.

I like Hatcher but I wasn't interested in giving him a ton of money on the wrong side of 30. That might have just been me that felt that way but I feel like it wasn't worth giving him a big money deal with his age and stuff.

Man, I hope we run right through him in the 4th quarter in WAS this season. I would love, so much, to do to WAS at home what a bad NYFG team just did to them.

He sucks, lets cut him.

Cowboys DT Henry Melton (hamstring) is expected to miss Week 4 against the Saints.
Melton has started each of the Cowboys' past two games next to DT Nick Hayden. He's graded out as a top-three pass-rushing defensive tackle at Pro Football Focus. The Cowboys' top run stuffer up front, DT Terrell McClain (concussion), is also expected to sit. Khiry Robinson has a juicy matchup. Sep 26 - 9:19 AM

Against two good offenses, he has 2.5 tackles and 0 sacks. The defense has given up 45 and 37 points. I refuse to miss Jason Hatcher, and I actually like the guy.

Hatcher was such a game changer tonight..invisible like he usually was in Dallas

11 sacks is invisible? Hatcher was a non-factor until Marinelli made him an Undertackle. Scheme and coaching can bring out a player's potential. Hatcher is no longer with Marinelli and playing primarily a 3-4 DE. Same position he played where he really did not make much impact prior to Marinelli.

A small detail, but an important one.

Ware
Hatcher
Romo

The last almost Big 3 Big 2 contracts that could have set us back. In all honesty I hated to see them go but I knew it was best, just wish we had done the same on the biggest one to date.. Time will tell, still praying for Crow.............

When I said usually, I figured most people would assume I wasn't talking about his contract year....that would be the exception for him

But that contract year had some major differences from his previous years in Dallas. The scheme change and the position change were huge. Not to mention Hatcher was an oft injured and/or a back up prior to Marinelli.
