Hate it! But say goodbye to DeMarco?

If the mediot reports are true and the Seahags have offered Marshawn over $10mil to play next year say
adios to DeMarco Murray. There will be several teams out there including title contending teams (Indy) that
will make a sweetheart offer to him and I think it highly likely he will reluctantly take it because the Cowboys
will be hamstrung with the Franchise tag on Dez. I know there are several DeMarco clones in the draft this
year and probably a bridge to a new bellcow in Mark Ingram, but I really hate to see him leave because
of the connection he has with this line and Romo.

Oh well! Loss is a heavy burden in the salary cap era!!!

Nothing has happened yet, and though the Lynch offer is very high, doesn't mean teams will follow suit and start offering high dollars to RB's all of a sudden. But could mean longer time for these RB's to actually sign.

Agree that should Murray leave, it will be because of Indy.......they are pathetic at RB and desperately need one to take some heat off Luck. Yes, they could go for one of them in the draft, but I think they would like to get an OLman to protect Luck as well.

Yes, thanks for bringing this up, and this goes for all the teams needing a RB, why sign Murray to a big contract, when they just as easy, well, 26 other teams [not all needing a RB though] can draft one too before we pick.
But it is supposedly a deep RB class.

And at this point, if Lynch gets $10 mil per year, does Dallas rethink things. Sign Dez, tag Murray. If they want to pay a RB that much for 1 year.

Why wouldn't Indy go after AP? Why would they settle for second best?

I seen 2 years $21 million. I think from Bleacher Report, so take it for what it is worth.
Also seen there, Lynch's agent denies this.

so was it just an offer, or a rumored offer...with that site, who knows.

I'm not so certain Indy goes after Murray. They need OL help and an entire defense. We'll see.

The thought of the team paying a running back top money scares me a lot more than losing him.

Why is that? They can have a bigger impact on a game and season than any other player. Murray provided more production than Romo last year, who had an MVP caliber season.

A bad contract is a bad contract whether it is a RB, WR, CB, DT or OL. Just as many if not more WR contracts turn out a lot worse than RBs and they are for a lot more money. If Dallas gives Dez a 7/98m deal that could go bad real quick. Murray might get 4/28m tops.

There's also a legit argument that Lynch is both a better runner and a better receiver than Murray, just older.

AP wants to play where the biggest check is. Don't be fooled.

If that were true I dont think he would be pushing for Dallas. Its no secret that it is going to be hard for Dallas to pay top money for a RB this year while trying to sign Dez. If we were flush with cash we would have already locked up Murray. Peterson has to know the only way he wears a star on his helmet is if he cuts us a deal.

I somewhat agree – just because Seattle pays Lynch (if, indeed, the rumors are true), it's no guarantee that other teams will follow suit. HOWEVER - there's going to be one "idiot" team/owner (*cough* Oakland) out there who will throw some ridiculous offer to prime free-agent like Murray. And as much as we tell ourselves that Demarco wants to be in Dallas, The plain truth of the matter is that this is his last chance to make this kind of money. RBs today get one chance at the fat contract after their rookie deal expires. This is Murray's only shot. I just don't see him turning down a ridiculous offer, and I'm afraid some team will make him one.

I don't think it has anything to do with Dallas not having the cap space to pay top dollar for a running back, and still sign all their other free agents. What's preventing them from signing Murray has nothing to do with cap space. With just a couple of restructures, the Cowboys could free up plenty of room under the salary cap. If that was all that was preventing them from signing Murray, it would have been done already.
