Eagirls got to Eli 8 times last game.. At some point specifically when we face a Rodgers, Peyton or Brady.. I know we beat Brees but do you think this will be a issue?

Your right Dallas has to do better in terms of pass rushing. Defense is doing a lot of things right and they are making big plays to help the team win but pass rush is a problem. I like being 6-1 knowing we can get better and best part defense knows they can do better. Durant and Ro both were a bit disappointed in the defense and felt there was much room for improvement

No, those guys will probably just throw the ball away instead of taking a sack just like Manning did many times yesterday.

NYGiants had 2 sacks... they lost. Sacks are great, no doubt, but consistant pressure is more important.

It's the big hole in this defense. The pass rush is weak/inconsistant. I think to some extent the Dline looks to be content to watch the QB and try to disrupt the passing lanes, so it could be a deliberate strategy.

I hope when DLaw returns we see more pressure

eli was throwing away anything that was close to being a sack. if the qb throws the ball away thats a good thing folks, not a bad thing. sacks are better but when the qb has to toss it away you have won the play

The D needs to be better as a whole. That performance yesterday won't cut it going forward. Right now it's too dependent on getting a turnover rather than getting teams off the field on 3rd down.

I think the Cowboys can get to 12-4 or 13-3 with the pass rush as it is and obviously make the playoffs.

In terms the playoffs it actually feels like this year is a down year for the NFC and having a substandard pass rush might not really hurt unless they meet up with the Packers in the playoffs.

If you can't put a rush on Rodgers then the Packers are typically good for 28+ points.

Add to that, the Packers have the #1 pass defense in the NFL and you have an interesting matchup.

If they played today in Dallas, I suspect the Cowboys would be favored by 3 1/2. It wouldn't be a cake-walk.

Eli was getting the ball out very quickly. Instead of sacks, look at success passing down field. Giants had none.

Eli is always tough for us to sack. He gets the ball out quick.

He was pressured yesterday quite a few times though and flirted with some intentional groundings.

Our pass rush sucks as far as getting sacks but we're at least getting pressure.

That is the whole idea of their new offense, get rid of the ball fast. I'm not sure what happened last week against the eagles didn't see the game.

sacks are not the entire story. It is better to have constant pressure and we are doing that each week flushing the Qbs out.

He also had a lot of time too much time. This is an area Cowboys need to improve on and even they know it. We do get some good pressure at times but not enough. Despite that the defense has played very well but if there is one area they need to show improvement it is pass rushing.

Eli basically spiked the ball in the backfield on a couple plays too. Some of those were close to being intentional ground IMO

It should have been. In general I thought we got shorted on the officiating. The quick whistle on McClain's fumble recovery, where they spotted the ball on that fourth down, and some pretty ticky tack holding calls.

Off subject... To OP
That Avi pic is weird. Something disturbing about it. Really random, almost like a leaked pic... And the socks only create more questions....

Go cowboys!!!!

That is the whole idea of their new offense, get rid of the ball fast. I'm not sure what happened last week against the eagles didn't see the game.

Quotes from Connor Barwin (who had 3 sacks himself) said that the Eagles gameplan was to press the Giants receivers off the line and not give Eli anywhere quick to throw.

I don't know how much of that philosophy we followed as it looked like Moore was playing off pretty consistently, allowing for many of those completions to Reuben Randle.

I think it IS the issue, the biggest one with this defense.

I think it's better than it was to start the season, but not near the level you want and need it to be.

Hopefully, it improves and Lawrence's return provides a big boost. Otherwise, I think some of these top passing attacks will chew it up.

Some perspective: remember that our DL was considered by many to be one of the worst units in history going into this year. Marinelli has them playing beyond their talent which is a credit to him and them.

Add in the fact that we're missing our two starters at end in Spencer and Lawrence and we're doing okay. Pass rush isn't our specialty, but I also remember all those sacks we generated the past few years and the 8-8 that was at the end of the rainbow for us.

Is it a concern? Yes, but it was always going to be one. No team is perfect, you just have to hope your positives outweigh your negatives when it matters most.

IIRC, the rule is that the ball must travel to the line of scrimmage, even if the QB is outside the tackles. Obviously, if there is a receiver in the area and the ball is not thrown to the line of scrimmage that is okay. But, I recall on 2 occasions where Eli was out of the pocket, did not get the ball anywhere close to a receiver and did not get the ball to the LOS. They should have been intentional grounding penalties and hopefully the coaching staff will bring that up to the officiating crew as a point of emphasis the next time they face the Giants.
