Hate to nitpick but it's a given Romo can't throw a fade

I'm happy we have our QB back. Ecstatic! I think the defense will keep improving, esp the pass rush, and we're back to being one of the better teams.

But over the last few weeks, CBs are really overplaying that back shoulder route and we haven't come off that with a fade route.

Actually think, when was the last time you saw Romo throw a fade route? The way the CB played Dez that fade route was wide open.

It wasn't Martellus's fault. It's not Dez's fault. It's not Escobar's fault or any other great leaping receiver's fault. Romo just can't throw a fade route!

Nah, Dez and Tony connect on that play 9/10 times. Dez just dropped the ball this time. You don't need to lob the pass to make the fade successful.

That back shoulder to Dez in the end zone has become pretty predictable. Seems those db's are guessing right on them. Having said that, I'm not crazy about fade passes inside the 5..just too much of a low percentage play imo.

Sorry not only are you nitpicking .. You are also wrong ... Look back through some tape of some games ... Romo has thrown many of fade routes .. He might be a little off at times and hasnt hit those deep post leads for receivers in stride .. But he is very able and proven to hit the fade

this is exactly what i was thinking, even the seahawks DB guessed it right and could have had a pick 6.they need to mix it up and not call the same play over and over again.

Please if I'm wrong provide the facts. Just game and situation and I'll do the rest by digging it up and admit I am wrong.

We only throw back shoulder fades, no regular fade routes. Romo hasn't thrown a good fade in years. I can't recall any really.

He can throw the fade just fine. If anything, Tony has trouble with the deep ball. He threw a good deep ball today to dez.

What play are you referring to? I didn't see him attempt a fade this game.

Exactly! But apparently I bumped my head because I don't know what I'm talking about.

They had success with it earlier but DBs have been overplaying it recently. The fact that Romo hasn't thrown one other pass other than it, even after all this evidence on tape that you can set up CBs with, should be very telling. The fade route was wide open for Dez on that play.

That's the point. He attempted a back shoulder throw that was broken up prior to the Witten TD. The DB overplayed that like they've been doing for the last several games since Seattle. The fade would have been wide open if Romo could throw it.

fades are dumb

No. Eli's faces are dumb. And even he has Larry Donnell looking like the next coming of Tony Gonazalez and Antonio Gates because he can throw a perfect fade. Continually forcing back shoulder throws and not changing that after DBs have started overcommitting is what's dumb.

Oh snap! Shots fired! Too bad Tony Romo is a ninja and just dodged them.

Well it's your thread .. I assume you already did all the research prior to posting this.. So now you are changing from Romo just can't throw the fade to he hasn't thrown in years .. What's next he hasn't thrown it this year .. Then he hasn't thrown it in in 3 games, 3 quarters ,.. 3 minutes ... I have seen many a game and I'm sure many others have as well where Romo has done just fine with the fade .. I'm sure someone who is bored can find plenty of plays to provide for you .. Then you can admit your wrong ..
Me I will stand by my statement ..
Nice thread though.. Good debate subject

A) Both Dez and Tony have to be on the same page for that to happen, meaning Dez has to know a fade is coming. Romo just can't throw it and hope Dez is there. That's a wasted play.

B) The back shoulder throw has been completed with a very high %.

And because I didn't see Romo attempt a fade, I won't say he can't throw a fade.

I think I've seen Tony Romo make every pass there is in the NFL.

Until Romo throws a fade and it completely sails over the receiver's head, floating into the stands, I'll reserve my judgement.
