I am tipping my hat to John Clayton, who I happen to think might be the only level headed journalist that covers the nfl.

Anyway, on sportscenter they did the big intro into what ellis said about roy and played it as roy is some malcontent who was forcing his way out or causing trouble and avoiding teammates.

Of course, the anchor, forgot his name right was laughing saying this isnt even about any of their suspended players....Up yours dude.

So clayton shot all of it down and just said roy has some problems in coverage but is not a problem player or person.

Thank you john clayton. There are many reporters, particularly on espn who could have gone into the shouting routine the media is filled with, but clayton is a class act and just reports the news.

I wasnt a fan until Salsbury just repeatedly verbaly abused that guy.

He seems level headed and gets really good info.

Gah, they had a segment about him on NFL Live. They showed the workouts he's been doing and everything and I swear Clayton said that so far Williams has lost 32 pounds. I was hoping someone else heard it lol.

I heard it on the NFL live segment, 32 pounds. Showed Roy working out in a pool with a 80 pound medicine ball and such.

Yeah that's pretty encouraging to hear. It'd be terrific if he comes out and just plays lights out football.

A buddy of mine was telling me about that - surprised I never saw it mentioned here.

My buddy was saying that Roy seemed to be working hard and fired up for this year, but someone on another board said Roy still looked fat and out of shape.

Guess I need to see if it's on ESPN's site anywhere.

But to what theebs said -- Clayton may look dorky, but he is very good with his NFL info IMO. The Huddle on ESPN Radio Saturday afternoons with him and Jeremy Green is great stuff -- pure conversation and interviews without all the hype, drama, and BS that ruins ESPN TV.

But Clayton and Mort are about the only guys on the whole network anymore who are actual reporters and not controversy ******.

i would probably shed some tears if i saw roy back to his old self. for a few years, i was always excited to see the defense come on to the field in anticipation that roy would make a big play/hit. 32 pounds sounds about right to me. he looked like he was playing at around 255-260 pounds last year.

NFL live is on in 30 minutes. Ill put it on the DVR and if anything is really noteworthy, I might try to get an upload of the video going.

During my normal 'boys news search about a week ago, I saw something on a random blog about Roy losing 30 pounds, but I couldn't verify it by our usual sources, so I never posted it.

If he cut 30 lbs of fat, then I wonder how he looked beforehand. Roy def didn't look like he was "ripped" in shape in the NFL live segment when he was in the pool. It wasn't that he wasn't looking big or anything just not a ripped or cut that you would expect if an NFL safety lost 30 lbs.

If he lost that much, I'm scared that Roy lost a tremendous amount of strength and muscle.

I saw the early NFL Live segment and went  when they said he lost 32 pounds. Frankly I can't wait until the June mini camp when we can all see what he looks like.

Remember folks, we've heard the lost weight story before. Last year he dropped a bunch of weight and it didn't do a lot. Personally, I think he CUT weight last year. Didn't do it through working hard, just did it through losing as much as possible as fast as possible. Thats not the right way.

If this years reports are true, lets just hope hes putting the work in.

I can only assume that any weight loss is because he has been working out (Ellis said as much) and actually trying to get in shape this year. Although after Roy himself said he was really working out this offseason, some still found a way to make it a negative.

I think Roy may have a point not working with the team. I am way more focused working out by myself than with people around me personally. If hes by himself working hard then I dont have a problem with him working out by himself because you know who does it also.
