Have there been any hints of Linehan's job being in jeopardy?

It's all kind of murky with all of the moving parts, but it seems to me that Garrett's offense used to consistently get better in the 2nd half, and Linehan's consistently is getting worse.

How about not only Linehan but Marinelli? Personally I like the guy. But his defense just flat out sucks. They get blown out by good offenses and manage to lose at the end against mediocre or bad ones. There has to be change here. How about Jim Schwartz? The guy had Buffalo's defense playing awesome the year before Rex fired him when he took over.

Don't think you will see any changes in the big 3 coaches, (Red, Linehan and Marinelli) the OL, WR, and DB position coaches and are the most likely changes.

I have NEVER liked Garretts conservative scheme in this day and age where it FAVORS the offense to take chances and be AGGRESSIVE on offense. Not only is Garretts scheme the polar opposite of that, you have Linehan calling the plays BEYOND conservatively.

So, when you add it all up, you have a very conservative playbook/scheme with a very conservative play caller.

It is NOT AT ALL conducive to today's game/rules.

I was concerned about this from day one with Jason.

The whole thing makes me drink more beer.

It's been a long season hasn't it?

Im an out of state fan so I don't get to hear/read the rumblings. Is there any talk of a new o coordinator being brought in? Cries of outrage from the local fans at least? His inability to generate any kind of offense without Romo carrying him on his back is pretty damning in my book. It was easy to blame the QB's at 1st but when Weeden can go to another team and win there's got to be a huge red flag.

Linehan is only the playcaller. He has to abide by Garrett's playbook. If you want real results then get rid of Garrett's playbook.

Linehan had an UDFA TE catch 7 TDs in Detroit one year. The way we couldn't get Escobar involved in the offense tells me it's not Linehan's fault that we are inept on offense.

Actually Rex wanted to retain Schwartz but he did not want to run Rex's 3-4 scheme. Plus they are both strong personalities. Schwartz also turned down the Fins D Coordinator position when Miami dumped their HC earlier this season. Guy is looking for a place to plant roots.

Linehan was brought in here to call plays in Garrett's playbook. Garrett resisted changes from Callahan who was basically changing the offense.

The reason we are here right now is because of Garrett. It's not Linehan..

You change the offense, Garrett is utterly useless.. It's the biggest protection mechanism he has...

Who's offense was it last years when it was 5th in the league?

Was Linehan this conservative in Detroit?

I never liked his system in Detroit either. We need a system that protects Tony Romo. We need a system that is more in line with what the Patriots and Steelers are doing. Those systems get the ball out early and removes the need for an offensive line that needs to be near perfect. If we had a system like that Tony Romo could play another 5 years.

Ah yes, old "conservative" Garrett/Linehan. I remember a mere two years ago when the offense was so pass-happy and everyone wanted them to slow it down.

How times have changed.

Only hints are the ones that are constantly on here and rehashed in different forms over and over. And not just about the offense.

Locally...
I have not heard anything other than from a few friends about the play calling overall. But then again, at times it was the right call, but since it wasn't the call they wanted, they complained.
But I also pretty much tuned out the local talk shows lately as it too has been the same old crap.

A few years back most were complaining that Garrett was too pass happy, so this usually means they are aggressive to get down field. So they finally the to OL in order to get the running game going. as he explained this many times. so they run more than pass, and it worked. So less aggressive.
So now without Romo, or Dez, and Murray the offense is now out dated and predictable....well, ok then...

I do agree it is conservative / predictable, since we don't have the players on offense to run it this year. But what every one was happy with last year, aren't this year, minus key players.
Just something to think about.

It was a new offense that people didn't begin to read, now defenses are calling stunts to stop a play pre snap. We need to execute a offense that will allow a big arm qb to throw 10 YDS on third and 7. Then we'll start down the road to a super bowl. I think I let Rod have one more year to see if he can improve.
