Hayden gets washed out of the hole by single teams well over 50% of the time. He is dominated by every double team he is up against. He is very easy to push around in the run game and gives up the cutback lane every down. The very best play you will get out of him is to stand up a single block because he gets no penetration at all. If he isn't terrible then I don't know what is.
My hope is that Hayden gets at most 20 snaps and that number diminish as the season wears on. The less Hayden plays the better our run defense and pass rush will be.
Certain players are symbolic of poor talent for a unit or roster. Guys like Colston Weatherington, Corey Proctor, Lynn Scott, and Rob Pettite.. Scrap heap guys who we were forced to start because between attrition and labor scarcity we don't have anyone better. Nick Hayden is of that ilk.
