Bishop holds the poa better than Hayden. He is just not used to all the line movement and misdirection in the NFL. He obviously has not seen a lot of zone looks he is getting as he gets caught from behind. They let OL more or less clip inside if they can get shoulder to shoulder.

Hopefully between now and week 5 or whenever Brent becomes available, McClain and/or Bishop shows enough to let them cut Hayden. It could be very well McClain that can never get healthy and is let go. We shall see.

High ankle sprains are debilitating and take 4-6 weeks to heal. He is right at 5 weeks at this point.

This is going to be a very long week.

If it's bad enough then we're talking 8 weeks for most players with a HAS.

For those fretting about Hayden making the team, I don't think he will be here for long.

It's a real shame (and in my opinion a poor decision about Ryan Williams). I think we'll see a lot of movement around defensive players becoming healthier and coming off suspensions. Really stunned that we kept Clutts, let alone Randle. Oh well....

Oh good god! talk about a choice between 2 evils.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Brent actually have to be ON a team for the commissioner to be obligated to announce his decision?

I've wondered exactly how that works with him. I assume that was part of the reason that Jerry publicly said that he had a spot on the team if reinstated.

His decision is on reinstatement so Brent can't be on a team.

I think people are in denial that Hayden sucks and that the only thing that saved him was the injury to McClain.

No one is in denial about the fact that Hayden sucks, but tell yourself whatever you want.

I cannot discount the possibility out of hand. I would prefer that it be because Bishop as a small school rookie is not ready and McClain injured but you could be right.

I just threw up again.

Yeah, having Hayden start at the #1, not only makes a shambles out of the defensive line, but it puts a heavy burden on highly questionable linebacking corps.

Everyone knows he sucks, but no one has even gotten close to taking his spot. What does that say about the competition? I don't think that McClain was going to take his job, as he hasn't started a game in a couple of years.

I said after the draft, if Hayden makes this team, things went horribly wrong during our offseason.

Well…

Did you really expect him to drop from first on the depth chart to off the team? That was never going to happen.

Hayden gets washed out of the hole by single teams well over 50% of the time. He is dominated by every double team he is up against. He is very easy to push around in the run game and gives up the cutback lane every down. The very best play you will get out of him is to stand up a single block because he gets no penetration at all. If he isn't terrible then I don't know what is.

My hope is that Hayden gets at most 20 snaps and that number diminish as the season wears on. The less Hayden plays the better our run defense and pass rush will be.

Certain players are symbolic of poor talent for a unit or roster. Guys like Colston Weatherington, Corey Proctor, Lynn Scott, and Rob Pettite.. Scrap heap guys who we were forced to start because between attrition and labor scarcity we don't have anyone better. Nick Hayden is of that ilk.

I agree on what he is, but disagree on his level of play. He gets absolutely no pass rush but last year he was OK in the running game until he was forced into playing twice as many snaps as he should have. In terms of roster spots, I agree he is a chair-moistener who only played because Rat, Crawford and Bass were all hurt. I just have a higher opinion of his play last year.

Hayden is valued by Marinelli.

Let that sink in when you start thinking he is capable of making chicken soup out of chicken feathers.

Some really did expect career backup McClain coming off an injury to just oust him.

Hayden is just the newest version of Cory Procter. That is all.

One of those do not try to understand it deals on this roster. Just nod your head and go buy a foam finger.

BTW, does the fact we kept 4 Right Tackles, one of which is injured, mean that Free is definitely gone after this season?

You've been known to be wrong about a player now and then. :) I don't think too much of Hayden either but he's better than the pond scum many here seem to think. I sure would like to upgrade him and I think that is very possible even now.

And what that has to do with Marinelli I don't really know. You act as if he has more choices than he has or he acquired this mountain of talent all by himself. He got dealt lemons and he's trying to do the best he can with it. I won't insult lemonade on his account.

I'd worry a whole lot more about a pass rush and how the others stop the run including the LBers than one marginal football player. There's tons more riding on how well Spencer, Melton and McClain do along with the return of Lawrence.

Everyone keeps trying to cut Hayden except the Cowboys. I don't know why people keep thinking he's going anywhere when there has been no indication that Dallas wants to get rid of him.

Same thing with Clutts. Dallas brought him in last year and used him quite a bit. The Cowboys have never expressed a desire to get rid of him and have had him out there when the first team is out there all preseason.

I think we need to get ourselves some better tea leaf readers. : )

Weems was the left tackle backup last year. I wonder if we kept five total tackles because Weems is still injured?

Since Parnell isn't injured, though, I guess that doesn't make sense. Maybe Dallas just likes Wetzel more than appears the Cowboys should.
