In overall contract value yes, but the cap hit wont be 12 million per year, and thats pretty much what matters. Danny's got steep pockets, and this deal is done in a way that allowed us to make other signings. So far, I gotta admit the people we've picked have had a 50% success rate, with some flops, like deion and bruce smith, and others have worked out (moss, portis, fletcher, washington). Say what you want about the skins not picking the best players, but we sure do know how to manage the cap.

I'm just wondering if the skins will go tackle with the 13th pick, or perhaps SLB/DE. I'd really like to get some OL depth in the draft.
What do 41 million guaranteed over 4 years mean?

Elsewhere it's been reported that he's guaranteed 32 million in the first 13 months of the contract, which means this contract is actually front- and back-loaded. No doubt a ginormous chunk of that 32 million is set to come in the 13 month, i.e., next year when there probably won't be a cap.

And that is actually consistent with 41 guaranteed over four years. That's actually quite a bit and not much lower than the 12 per year cap hit you're denying.

Here's my wild guess for the cap hit per year, for the first four years, assuming the 32 mil figure is correct: this year -- 6; next year -- 26 (!); 2011 -- 4; 2012 -- 5.

That's quite a gamble on Little Bonaparte's part.

which one gets double teams ALL THE TIME, and sometimes even triple team, and which guy doesn't?

Try to spin it whichever way you want, the skins got a great defensive player in haynesworth today
Ratliff had the same number of sacks in his 4th season as Haynesworth had in his first 4 seasons combined.

Through their first 4 seasons:

Ratliff - 0.310 sacks per game
Haynesworth - 0.144 sacks per game

I think it's pretty clear which has had a more productive career through 4 seasons.

Hell, Haynesworth couldn't even break 4 sacks until his 6th season in the league. Ratliff's done that twice in 4 seasons. And Ratliff's just now hitting his stride. Haynesworth is going to lose steam due to laziness after getting paid.

If he plays all 4 years and is paid $48 million over those 4 years, then yes it will average out to $12 million in cap hits per year. It may be more in one year and less in other years, but all $48 million would go against the cap in those 4 years (if he played only those 4 years).

That's been a common theme throughout his career and one reason why I haven't been chewing my nails off like a bunch of people around here even since he was rumored to sign with Washington.

He's only played a full season once and only in the last two years when he was playing for this contract did the light seem to go on.

We have all seen boom or bust types like him get that fat contract and coast. I don't see why Haynesworth would be any different. If he is, then he breaks the mold.

Dont' be silly.

Your infatuation with and defense of Ratliff against the we-need-a-true-NG mob is causing you to twist yourself into an alternate reality in which Haynesworth isn't effective because he doesn't do what Ratliff does.

Or is there something else going on here?

So if :

Haynesworth got approx. 4yr.....48 mil
(Titans were offering 11 mil per year)
http://blogs.usatoday.com/gameon/2009/02/espn-hayneswort.html

Jared Allen got approx. 6yr.....72mil
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_Allen

I'm hoping we can get Ware signed to a 12-13 mil annual contract. The guaranteed amount is the issue.

Allen - 32 mil
Hayneswworth - 41 mil

The boys have offered so far:

Dallas Morning News
The Cowboys initial offer was similar to the six-year, $72 million deal Minnesota gave Jared Allen last year that included $32 million guaranteed.

Can we get it done without hitting the 15mil annual mark?

Haynesworth deal total including incentives: 7yr - 115 mil...........:lmao:
