I caught the end of this week's "Inside the NFL" and they were talking like not only was this the last for the season but the last show ever.

I guess it's not surprising considering the explosion of NFL related shows on other channels and the NFL channel, and nowadays by the time its on Wednesday you've seen every highlight 10x on ESPN or whatever, but you would think that the NFLs popularity would also be a reason for it to stay, and its been on 31 years.

I remember maybe 8-10 years ago it was one of the main reasons I would keep HBO and I would really look forward to it. They always had really good highlights and "NFL Films", and it was one of the few shows at the time that would do picks for each game and info that helped with fantasy football.

I do admit though that the last few years I usually just catch it on accident, and it was probably over when Len Dawson and Nick Bunoconti left, but still sad to see it go I guess.

Wow, I guess you're right... I've never had HBO before this year, and I'm usually working on Wednesday nights anyway, so this is my very first year ever seeing Inside the NFL. I saw their last episode, and I never gathered that they were ending the show by watching it. I guess I wasn't paying as much attention to the program as I thought... anyway, I guess you're right... :(

"On February 6, 2008, HBO suddenly announced that the show would end its run after 31 seasons. HBO Sports cites increased competition in NFL-related programming since the show's inception as a reason for its cancellation.

In the final episode, a taped montage with highlights from the series' 31 seasons was aired. In addition, former hosts Dawson and Buoniconti did the final signoff as the credits rolled."

I've been watching it since 1986 when my podunk South Dakota town got HBO. It was the best(IMHO) NFL show on the air. Will miss it until it surfaces on NFL Net next year;)

I remember as a kid it was bragging rights at our school if they picked our team to win or vice versa. I havent watched much in a while too. As soon as Costas, Collinsworth and Carter joined I was pretty much done. Its ashame because that use to be the show the players watched. Meaning, it was an honest show and no one was out to get them. But, then they add a Peter King etc and thats out the way.

They still should of kept it but lets face it with youtube, sportscenter and the NFLnetwork(this is what killed it) by the time the show airs you already seen the highlites 3-4 times. I know all of the crew on the panel doesnt work for cheap and with low ratings I guess it was a busniess decision. I would say get rid of all those guys and pay Dawson and Bounaccetti to do it again the laid back way that made the show famous. Too many shows now days look for the homerun to bury a player. Sometimes, I just wish they mind their own busniess and let the athletes be. Dawson and Bouncatti from what I remember was the opposite of that.
