@AdamSchefter: With five teams still looking to fill HC vacancies, worth noting that Jason Garrett is now a free agent.

Garret may break the bank...
A guy we all wanted gone ... Stripped of OC duties ...forced to hire coaches ( Rob ryan )

And here he is blank check time.

He's gonna get more then Rex I'll tell ya that.

If anybody - mediots included - want to make a wager on Garrett not coming back, I'm more than willing to take any action.

Only a short year removed from this guy deservedly being on the coaching hot seat and now he has a blank check? Gimme a break. His only opportunity is to stay put.

He's staying, but if he were to leave, I fire up the Jet for Dan Quinn. Him running the defense and Linehan running the offense would be a good combo.

Not sure what you've been watching

Garrett has learned on Jerry's dime and by sacrificing the careers of romo and witten and ware for the last 4 years and is still no more that an average HC. Sorry this is not breaking the bank time. If linehan walks we will get the same 8-8 tripe we have had the 3 years before.

I doubt Garrett will so call break the bank. I am glad that he will be back and hope we can get most of the staff back. I think the team has made great progress and is headed in the right direction. Dallas is the 2nd youngest team in the league and have a chance to make a run at a SB.

He's not going anywhere. Also, who cares if he breaks the bank? The Bank of Jerry doesn't break. He doesn't count towards the cap.

Who says Garrett was forced to hire Ryan. I remember a game when the announcers stated that Ryan impressed Garrett very much during his interview for DC. Why does "Teflon Red" never get the blame? Wake up and smell the roses. Red hired Ryan & Kiffin. Thank the lord that Kiffin brought in Marinelli.

He's not going anywhere and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world even if someone was dumb enough to sign him away.

I doubt Garrett breaks the bank. I think he gets probably close to $7 million a year, no more than $8 million. Jerry has a history of re-signing coaches in January. Since we were in the midst of a playoff run, it was going to be delayed. Look at your teams that could potentially sign Garrett:

NY Jets (why would you want to take over that mess of an organization?)
Buffalo (supposedly into Rex Ryan, but they can't afford $7-$8 million a year).
Oakland (can't afford $5 million a year, much less $7-$8 million a year and a terrible mess of an organization)
Chicago (won't pay $5 million a year, much less $7-$8 million a year)
Atlanta (won't pay that)
San Francisco (I believe they won't pay it...also the taxes are far higher).

The Jets I think would be the frontrunner. They have the owner with the money, but there is also a stigma towards Dallas and Garrett and I think it would be hard to sell to Jets fans.

And if I were Jason Garrett, I'd run to Atlanta as fast as possible....

Why?

They are not a big market organization because it is a college football city.

They are not likely to pay him much more than $5 million a year.

And you're going to get much more endorsement deals being the coach of the Cowboys than the coach of the Falcons.

The city also...blows (not to mention there are state taxes and the cost of living is far higher than it is in Texans).

What will happen with Monte Kiffin in Dallas if Marinelli goes to TB?
