It got to the point where you started to wonder what exactly could Heath do? Becuase he displayed absolutely nothing. NOTHING.

I haven't wrote him off. Different sports but I remember when Steve Nash first came to the Mavs and he played horribly fans booed him. I'm not saying Heath will ever amount to anything but usually games like this where the play is so bad? It ends up being beneficial for the player. That's if he's a player. I'm not sure if Heath is. But no one knows what Heath is at this point.

Tony Dixon, Gerald Sensabaugh, Pat Watkins, Ken Hamlin, Roy Williams- all had days as bad as Heath had Sunday. So yes I've seen no less than equal performance from more highly touted, better paid, and more experienced players.

He cant cover and he cant tackle?

His tackling was comical.

His cover skills are on a par with a lot of the others which isn't saying a lot. He can tackle and will make a good attempt. As I said he needs work. Give me a kid who will give me effort and you can often train them. He's got the tools. I'm keeping him on the PS next year at least and giving him a shot at making the team.

Heath had no business being on the field. He wouldn't even be on the practice squad of the better teams in the league.

I disagree. He'd either be on the PS or used as a backup and a core STs player.

Hey MMOHICAN29-

I appreciate and admire your positive spin. Spin said in a nice way and no sarcasm here, either. You are very positive about your football team. And we need that balance here because some of us are bitter and angry.

Thanks, but I'm not positive about the football team. In fact I'm depressed over it.

I'm trying to recognize players who can help this football team in the future. I've wanted so many different players for different reasons to kick rocks over the years and I just want to voice my opinion on players who I think are salvageable pros before they don't get another shake from a bad outing, and why I think they deserve them.

Heath deserves more opportunity because he's got tenacity and ability. One bad game in his third NFL start shouldn't discredit his roster spot. He's not a pet cat. He's a member of the Cowboys who I think can help this team in the future if given time to develop.

Heath was thrown to the wolves. Truth is...we don't know what he really is capable of. He looked decent against Minn then the wheels fell off in NO. I think he is nowhere near starter material, or even 2nd team yet. He is a young kid and was put into a harsh environment with almost no other help. We had no D line and one CB to take some of the pressure off. He did get roasted on several plays and whiffed on tackles but he deserves more chances to redeem himself. Not many would have fared well under those circumstances.

As bad as he played, he was no where near the top of reasons why we lost.

I want to say it was on a TD- but I cant remember which one since the Saints had so many...but I seem to recall one play in particular that it looked like he did a horrible job of reacting when the ball was in the air.

Ill give the kid props for trying but like others have said, he was in over his head. Who the hell know if he will ever amount to anything but for the time being , he is a MAJOR liability out there. It's unfortunate that the front office forced him into this role. He should have never been out there.

Was the TD, he got turned around and tripped over his feet or an invisible gnome, not sure which. I am not excusing his play at all. He is in the NFL and should show more aptitude but he should get another chance before being released. You or I would be upset if we were asked to perform some task for our job safety and we had to be surrounded by incompetents.

I can't go that far. That was by far the worst play i've ever witnessed from a safety for this team. There has been bad safety play but nothing on that level.

To be fair he was 3rd string UDFA....

That just went up against Megatron, A.P and Drew Brees lol.

Not exactly a welcome into the NFL if you ask me.

Remember the Reggie Bush play where he forced a fumble? The kid has skill, he just is too green right now.

I'm not ready to give up on him. Did he have a terrible tackling game against the Saints? Yes but he actually played a pretty good game against the Lions. He is still learning the position and that was a very big spotlight on him Sunday night. I would not be that surprised if he a Wilcox end up as our long term starters and Church is used more in a nickel linebacker role next year.

Yeah, I think he's shown some talent, too. It's too bad he had to be thrown in the deep end before he was probably really ready.
