No one wanted him at 1.6m......no reason to pay him more than that for more years......makes 0 sense...

they could have offered 1m and he would have jumped at it......just business..they play hardball with Murray, Hardy, McClain but give up easy for Beasley, Heath, Hanna.......good to be RKGs

Trying to compare the contract demands of Murray, Hardy, and McClain, to Beasley, Heath, and Hanna. Oh boy.

His contract is less per year than what Slater got 16 months ago, and it extends three years farther into the future (Slater isn't even signed past this season). Heath's average share of the cap is much less than Slater's, and Heath actually can play somewhere besides special teams.

Aaaaand on cue, Adam JT13 comes in to slap down the stupid.

You can't fix stupid with duct tape but you can significantly quieten it.

Duct tape can fix anything. If it is too stupid, it just means you didn't use enough. An entire roll and an anchored post will do.

Both wilcox and church are free agents next year. It was a good move in re-signing him. Next year it would've been difficult only having 1 true safety in byron jones (assuming we don't draft one). Solid move i expect us to draft Church's replacement this year and let him compete with Heath next year for the starting SS role.

Overpay 5-10 guys by a million and you have the Dallas Cowboys.

At least we didn't overpay by 30 mil for one player- cough cough - Olivier Vernon

Heath while no stud saves us money and can play emergency S, but is solid on ST.

Heath should never be considered for the starting S position unless injury- keep him on special teams and maybe a rotational S at times but start, no way- emergency starter only. This was a solid deal and if for some reason he doesn't pan out after 2 years we can cut him and save on cap hit.

OVernon makes them a lot better. I wish we had him. I we cut 5 JAGS we could afford it.

The people who have a problem with this deal are those hung up on a couple of highlight plays from his rookie year. He's a core special teams player and a backup safety that won't kill you when he's on the field. Seems like a reasonable deal that you can get out of for little pain anytime after year one. Basically a nice little contract for a nice little player.

I wouldn't get upset by such a contract for Heath -- we've surely made dumber deals than that in the past. I doubt he's the terrible player some of us make him out to be.

I read it's 31m and I would rather have Norman and some rookies instead of Carr, Wilcox and Heath.

37m guaranteed over first two years.

They would have to then cut him by. March 2018 to not make that years salary guaranteed for the full 50.

His cap hit this year is 8m. 20m next year.

And. Of they cut him to avoid that salary in his age 30 season they'd have 9m in dead money.
