I agree with you to a point. But it is easy to say that Watkins should have just layed back and not bit on that double move. But the facts are, he bit because that is what he has been coached to do. It was just a good route by the WR and a POOR play by Ellis. I would venture to say that in that particular situation, there is not a Safety that would not have reacted to that move. As a DB, you expect the WR to break his route shorter because of the blitz, the wR knew that the cowboys blitzed, so when he went to the inside, it was a perfectly natural and good move to jump that route, unfortunatley it was a very well ran route by the WR, a missed tackle and a great throw. Sometimes, instead of blaming people, you just have to tip your hat and say, well done. Ellis is more to blame for that td than any DB, but it was a well ran play on the eagles part as well.

Everything you said was spot on. This was a no win situation. What you're forgetting is that after Baskin made the catch Watkins caught up to him at the 25 and should have made the tackle. Maybe they holdem to a FG.

I know hindsight is 20-20, blah blah. But when I saw Henry blitzing, I was wondering what we were doing.

It wouldn't have hurt us if Ellis made the tackle, but even the announcers were asking why we would blitz him from out there. I actually liked our defensive game plan for the most part. I DO believe Parcells is right in saying that our safeties basically allowed the three plays that cost us. On the other two plays, I think the play-calling was fine but the players messed up. But on that Baskett play, why blitz the corner? Just didn't get it.
