Why did we wait until there were 38 seconds on the clock to throw a pass longer than 10 freaking yards? From the middle of the second quarter I don't recall a single pass longer than maybe 10-12 yards until the very end of the game - WHY? WAAAYY before Aikman and Buck made comments about needing to stretch the defense to keep them from "jumping the routes" I was complaining about it. Why do they do that?

And I will also admit that I don't understand how we can know CLEARLY that we have issues on the 0-line and continue to look at other positions. Drew was getting KILLED back there.

You just answered your own question. The o-line was the reason. There wasn't enough time for him to hang back there for something deep to develop.

We should have done three things differently.

First, we should have shifted TO around to shake-off the double teams, or even put him in the slot to get him matched up against LBs so that if he's double teamed, he's better able to beat it, and be there for quick, over the middle throws to counter those middle blitzes.

Second, we should have thrown deep more to stretch the Eagles out and have them pull the blitz back. These kinds of call won't work if the pressure gets to hte QB but that won't always happen, and had we called those more we would've been able to exploit their blitz on the playsd where we picked it up.

Finally, we should have adjusted our offensive scheme at halftime. Why didn't we? Well, we don't have a real offensive coordinator. Instead we have two guys calling plays and Bill Prcells overssing this to make sure they call waht he wants. That setup is pretty constricting for making adjustments. We were plagued by the same problem in the Jaguars game. I posted the same thing then about this being the crux of the "no halftime adjustments" problem.

hard to throw deep when your qb is getting creamed on 3 step drops

There were several passes designed to go downfield during the game - and Bledsoe got hit or made stupid decisions and they got picked off. The grounding call was on a play designed to go downfield that wasn't open.

Heck, Bledsoe barely had time to throw a short curl and couldn't move well enough to avoid a rushing turtle - do you really think more slow developing plays made sense?

3 step drops from an empty set with noone in the backfield to block. That was a mistake. They had more than enough opportunities to take their shots down the field. They could've attemtped so either in a base set or 3 WR set. You saw how overmatched Lewis looked trying to cover Glenn 30-40 yds down the field. Same goes for TO.

I also dont understand how we didn't use the RBs and TEs more on screens and on short middle patterns.

What are you talking about. Bledsoe sat back there and read a novel on numerous occasions......there was time to throw deep on a number of plays.

They ran the no RB set what .... 3-4 times ..... yet that is the catch all blame for the offensive failures?

That is true as to a handful of ocassions, but apparently either no one was open or Bledsoe didn't see them. Either way, it's hardly a strong motivation to try it some more.

I agree with you Sarge (and now I am playing God.....J/k no offense to any posters) But I think you are a voice of reason on this board and would like to know what you would do this week, if you had one decision to make?
