We lost this game because:

We obviously committed crucial penalties at the wrong time...we missed a few passes that should have been caught but thats not why we lost...we lost because:

we went away from what got us the two touchdowns...we stopped running...we did this because we thought since ross was out that we could go deep on these guys...several times tony held the ball only to get sacks...he didnt throw a few of them away like he should have...then when he did there was no one there....stupid plays i admit but in trying to exploit the corners or lack thereof we got out of what worked....the gints started blitzing and thats all she wrote...then at the end when we started to dink and dunk it was too late...crayton quit running and it was over....

I do however think that wade needs to go...here is why...he is 0-4 in the playoffs and just cant get the job done there...sure great players like ware and TO will stay motivated but what about players like reeves and roy? who was going to motivate them to play at a higher level? there was no one to do that and therein lies wade's problem...when the going gets tough he is already gone! He cant put his foot down and last I checked that doesnt work! dont point out tony dungy because he is much more straight and to the point then wade...he just doesnt yell.

Wade is too laid back. Jerry is an oil man. A risk taker. I say he take a week to think about things. He will get input and finally he takes Jason and doesnt look back! Wade is gone. He wont be able to get around the fact that this team was 13-3 and quit on him! He couldnt get them motivated! Romo lost focus. Please dont tell me he didnt because that wasnt the same Romo I saw earlier in the year. As soon as Jessica showed up he was a different player and he needs to realize that. Playing QB for the Dallas Cowboys AND playing at a high level takes a level of committment and somewhere along the lines this year he lost it. He had it but let's make this clear...HE LOST IT! Not throwing it away and taking sacks...then throwing it away and taking the penalty. Not putting the ball where it should have been on several passes including the one to TO across the middle... That was the end of the year TONY...not the TONY from the beginning of the year...That was the tony AT After Tonica...not the one BT before tonica....I didnt want to believe this but its true. We all saw it. Everything happened just like it did BT. Reeves couldnt cover. Roy did nothing. Ware and Ellis brought some heat. We had a great running game. One thing was missing. IT WAS TONY ROMO. Sure he played ok but he didnt play like he did BT. Thats why we lost! I wont say he lost us the game but I will say he didnt win it for us like he did before!

Wade is too laid back?

This team was just as penalized with Parcells here, if not more... where was the motivation for the other players when Parcells was here, crashing in December...

And TS, Bill's guy, coached this atrocious line...

Last year it was bad coaching for not going at a depleted secondary and this year it's bad coaching because we did go at a depleted secondary.

last year we could have won the game. this year we didnt really have a shot to win. it was so messy.

no halftime adjustments and just terrible coaching. poor mental preparation. these guys were not mentally prepared and not focused.

Do you have anything solid to base Garret actually improving the team on?

Part of the reason we "stopped" running is that we had penalties that put the offense at 1st and 15 and 1st and 20. I really had no problem with the playcalling.

I think major keys were drop by Fasano and the drop by Crayton which probably gets Dallas at 28 points for the game instead of 17. The Crayton drop was enormous because it not only possibly cost Dallas 7 points, but Dallas didn't get the first down and wound up giving the Giants great field position (another big factor).

The other big factor was the TD scored by the G-Men just before the half. In that situation the defense should have given up no more than 3 points which puts Dallas at 14-10 at the half. If Dallas does that and scores a TD in their opening drive of the second half (the drive with the Fasano drop), that puts Dallas at 21-10 and could make things a bit uneasy.

The defense improved quite a bit this year, but I think the tendency to give up a few too many points and as today showed, the inability to make those stops early in the game that allow the team to pull away early finally caught up to them.

That being said, the Giants played quite well and the better team today won the ball game.

I thought they were prepared and focused. What happened to the O-Line in the second half I really have no idea. Hell, I'm not even sure where I would really argue against the coaching except for the Giants having interesting success running at the weakside of the Dallas defense, usually the best side of Dallas' run defense.

We had a chance to win that game in the end. Did you even watch it?

Romo to blabbermouth Crayton.

Wade cannot make the tough decision. He must have been infected from the Marty school of coaching.

I wish he would be all over the defence like Bellicheck coaching them and making adjustments

excellent points. Too many mistakes, and the team that makes the most mistakes loses. It is all about execution. This is why the Pats dont bother me when they attacked all season

Wade stays. To fire him would be a monumental mistake because:

1) Who is qualified to replace him?
2) If you promote Garrett, what then of the defensive approach? Stewart is barely qualified to run one as we have witnessed all year. A new DC means more changes and bumps in the road, regardless of talent
3) You become labeled as a kneejerk GM and this will pit players against each other and they will not play with confidence for fear of their jobs
4) You basically will tear the team up and start from scratch and there is no evidence that is at all necessary.

Personally, I hope Garrett does leave. His situation was as much of a distraction as Romo in Cancun. Don't wait for the other shoe to drop, kick it off if need be.

We need SOME consistency here folks.

I hope after you get the chance to look at the video, you can give us a breakdown on why the o-line was all of a sudden giving up consistent pressure in the 2nd half. I don't understand how a line that's very adept at pass blocking all of a sudden loses it. You'd also think that they'll perform even better in the 2nd half as the defense generally tires out more than the o-line..

I'm going to take a stab at this one, at least from what I saw during the game.

In our first drives we just took what the defense gave us. We may have had 20 play drives to score a TD, but we were consisently moving the ball. I think we had like 8 straight 3rd down completions in the second quarter.

Once we got down in the second half we kept going for the big play. We abandoned what we did in the first half. I guess Garrett and company figured they could take advantage of the Giants depleted secondary. The problem was the plays were slow developing, so the Giants decided to bring it all with the blitz. Tony had little time to throw and the blitz disrupted the timing of the plays.

The sad part about it was the middle of the field was open during a lot of those blitzes. All they had to do was stick with the game plan and take what the defense was giving them. It was not like we were down by 14 or 21 points. One TD and we would have had the lead.

There were other factors that did not help us. Romo made a lot of poor decisions during the sacks he took. He was out of the pocket . . . why he did not throw the ball away on both sacks is beyond my comprehension. As Parcells would say, "sometimes it's okay to throw the ball away." Also, this team also does not handle adversity well. The dropped passes, the false starts, the fact that sometines it seems like there is lack of conentration on both sides of the ball. The TD the defense gave up at the end of the half was inexcusable.

Jason is not going anywhere. He is not ready to head coach. Add to that the fact that this offense has only scored 1 TD per game in the last four games, and I think this will put him out of the running for any head coaching jobs in this league. He's just too young and too green.

What I am afraid of is the fact that Wade Phillps may have Marty Shottenheimer disease. He gets the team going during the regular season, but cant get the team to step it up inthe playoffs. It's nice to be 12-4 or 13-3 during the regular season, but you have to win in the playoffs with that record (and a number one seed). Maybe it's his coaching style that causes this. But I can tell you that Jerry won't put up with it for long. If Wade does not win a playoff game next year, You can bank on it Jerry will let him go.
