Here is why Felix will perpetually struggle with injuries

Felix has jets that no mortal has ever known. If he gets enough carries he will set the all-time NFL marks for average per carry.

But they guy is never going to stay real healthy for real long.

Why? Think about the type of collisions he suffers with other foreign bodies and with the turf when he lands. The guy is just a rocket ship in flight and when he falls or hits something it is simply with greater force than other backs.

He also has less time to gather himself when he crashes into something or hits the deck. He's going to have more awkward landings than most.

We have to be realistic. He's going to be a supremely special back. Unique. One of a kind. But he's not ever going to play 14 or 16 games in a season.

At this point, I'll write it down to bad luck as all the injuries have been of totally different type and only the hamstring injury is a very common one.

How many games did he miss in college due to injury?

...it has nothing to do with how fast he is. There's alot of fast Rb's.

IMO His body just isnt NFL Rb ready....He needs to get a litte stronger and he'll be fine. PLus He's had bad luck.

IIRC, he didn't miss any in college. New territory for him, I think. Probably one reason he might not know how to come back from them properly.

None that I can recall. That's what is so puzzling about the injuries he has sustained. Felix has never been injury prone.

I watched many Razorback games while he and McFadden were there. I do remember McFadden missing a few games from injury.

Well, Dorsett, Barry Sanders, Gale Sayers, and many others were extremely fast too. I agree, it's more of a conditioning strength issue along with some bad luck.

Plus, I don't think he would be criticized for running out of bounds on plays where there's no where to go.

I'm sure Patrick Crayton could school him in this art form.

He wasn't even the fastest dude at the combine.... 4.4 40......

I'll tell you why Felix keeps getting hurt 13 reps.

It is just bad luck, I don't know where people get the notion that one can avoid injury in a game as violent as pro football.

People talk about it as if was a stat...Injury Prone +8

Also, if you think these guys don't stretch enough or do the things that would get us average Joes injured while doing yard work your kidding yourself, not only do they do it, they pay people to come help them do it.

These guys are bigger, stronger and faster than the football players I grew up watching in the 80's - 90's. They are subjected to greater forces than the players of yesteryear.

*Note* I am not talking about toughness here, we know a lot of old timers were tough as nails.

How exactly does improving your bench press help avoid a toe injury and or a strained PCL?

I can't get a handle on this myself. I could understand if he was a big back that lack quickness and great reflexes and took a lot of abuse. Or if he was some 195lb scat back.

But he's neither. He's a medium size guy with great quickness and reflexes. He's quick enough to avoid a lot of direct hits and big enough to take the hits he gets. He shouldn't be injury prone.

Maybe he won't be and has just had some bad luck. I don't know, I'm starting to lose faith that he'll ever stay healthy. Hope I'm wrong.

Weren't you the one bellyaching over Mendenhall?

It's humorous that -- even after seeing Felix's explosiveness in games -- you use his 40 time as the barometer of his speed. Downright laughable.

I'm in your boat. Definitely worried, as it seems like he always has some minor nick.

If he can stay healthy -- boy, oh, boy. We've got something veeeery special.

He don't got the strength to hold up in the NFL.

Why do people keep asking this like it matters? Like its a big trump card or something.

The pros are bigger, stronger, faster.

How many teams did Reggie Bush slaughter in college?

The only thing that matters is him being injured almost non-stop since he was drafted.

Felix is a monster when healthy. Sadly, he hasn't stayed healthy. Hopefully he doesn't miss too much time now.

I'm just saying he's claiming Felix has jets no mortal has ever known but when you put that clock on his *** his speed is just pedestrian. Yeah there's a difference between game speed and 40 times. Some people are faster than what they time and others are slower.

Felix doesn't seem to have top-end long-distance speed, but he's as quick as any player in small spaces. I don't know if his non-40 combine times support his ridiculous quickness in tight spaces, but the game tape doesn't lie. Quite clearly, it's that kind of speed the original poster is talking about.

Take a look at his 10 and 20 yard splits - I'd guess they were probably top of all players at the combine that year.
