Here you go Jerry

At times I feel like people think football is like Legos or Lincoln logs.

Just stack it and it will become something.

99.99% of us have no idea the qualifications, input, amount of control, or dynamics of any front office in the NFL, but Fantasy Football and Madden have allowed us room to sit back and assume we do.

Can any of you tell me for 100% certainty who the best football guy in the world is?

If you can, great. Now tell me who he is employed by, how he got unemployed, or how you can guarantee he will not come in here with an ego and ruin what we have that is good.

That would be "inspiring." Until then it is lip service.

Just like pimping Jason Garrett for the head coach role based on no reasons other than wishful thinking.

But it seems it's OK for folks to do that around here.

I got the point of what he was saying, that Jerry Jones needs to hire good football folks and get out of the way so they can do their job.

And the thought of that made me feel good, no matter what name was attached to it.

Because until that dynamic changes, the 'name' won't matter.

How is it negative to ask for a real plan not a mantra?

"I would hire the best football guys."

Oh boy, great idea.

Reread the post and my explanations. If you don't understand what I'm communicating after that, I think its on purpose. :)

And yes, I believe "I would hire the best football guys", is DIFFERENT than what is currently driving this owner. I stand by that.

You are a sharp cookie, so I'm sure you haven't missed the point of my post. It isn't that anyone always knows who those people are. Nor is it that whoever is in charge would always find the right person. The point is, WHAT IS DRIVING MY SEARCH? I think a very large portion of the Cowboys fanbase, and a very large portion of NFL fans as a whole, perceive that Jerry Jones is not just about winning, he is about winning HIS WAY.

He brings in strong football people, things get better, he goes with guys that allow him (Jerry) to be the face of the franchise, and to undercut the authority of the head coach, and down, down, down we go again.

Maybe you are right and we are all wrong. Its possible. But then again, maybe you are wrong on this one. I happen to think you are.

Either way, none of us can change a darn thing about it. It is what it is.

Thus my post was presented in the form of a dream scenario.
I do not even pretend to understand the perception of HIS WAY.

Every Head Coach we have had has said Jerry did not and does not meddle in the football operations.

I do not care what a large group of fans perceive. I don't care what the media says. I care about reality.

Until you can show me that the people we have in place are incompetent or unreliable this is whistling in the dark while walking past a graveyard.

Swing and a miss.

I pimp Jason Garrett for a whole lot more than wishful thinking. I backed up my wishes with actual football background. Ignore it if you wish, but don't ever think I am clueless about opinions I form. You'll strike out every time.

However, I will allow feel god fantasies so by all means get drunk, get happy, and celebrate the arrival of super football guys who will all curtail ego for the sake of fan harmony.

Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya...

Every guy who has said this that isn't a patsy (Jimmy and Parcells) have both communicated in ways, at times, that indicate what most perceive to be true. Jimmy has flat out said that Jerry is out of his league as a "football guy", yet HE CONTINUES TO DO IT. Why? Because he is the best gm in the business? Really? He is fully committed to finding the best gm he can find? Him? And, you are telling me that this team doesn't see Jerry as the center of their football universe? Just listen to them at times. You would think they were talking about their head coach.

Listen, you have confidence in Jerry. I got no problem with that. All I see are the same old tired results. And I also see Wade's 13-3 coming right on the heels of Parcell's departure, that is, after Parcells helped restore some football respectability in Dallas. I see us slipping away, once again, with Jerry as the football centerpiece.

You say I (and all others like me) are wrong in our thinking. Ok. I say you are wrong. Either way, won't change with Jones owning the team. I really don't think it will.

No thanks. It won't fix pointless.

I'm not trying to bag on you. I just think nameless entities is about as useful as wheels on a hockey puck.

I have never in my life called Jerry the best GM in the business.

Punch strawmen and get upset all you want. Flail away if it makes you feel manly. It's all urine P.P.

Glad you think you backed up what you were saying. That's one person who does.

You talk him up like a prodigy when to date he looks like David Shula.

You yourself stated that you've wanted him to be the head coach since he was a player, that clouds your judgement. Reality shows that he's done nothing to warrant promotion.

Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya...

Maybe you should start another 'I told ya so' thread instead?

The last one worked out great...

LOL. Then if YOU don't think that Jerry is the best GM in the league, how do you nullify the point of my post? I simply said THIS OWNER IS NOT COMMITTED TO FINDING THE BEST FOOTBALL PEOPLE (HEAD COACH AND GM) that he can. And he isn't. He is more interested in doing it HIS WAY.

That is, Jerry the football guy way.

And I'm really laughing out loud at the flailing away, urine, P.P., thing. cmon Hos. :)

You're right. Let's hire Super Football Guy and he will get his staff of up and coming super football guys and he will hire Super Coach guy who will have his staff of up and coming Super Coach guys and they will turn this Motley Crew into 19-0 juggernauts.

This is inspiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And 'reality' is just what these guys say it is right? Because they all tell us the truth in everything they say?

Because it's to their advantage to badmouth former employers and it helps them to get jobs with new ones, right?

Now who's naive?

Until you can show me that the people we have in place are incompetent or unreliable this is whistling in the dark while walking past a graveyard.

What does 1-5 say?

:) a lot more inspiring than, 1-5. argue with that! Plus (again), you are avoiding the entire point of the post (and now its on purpose). It isn't about finding super football guy. Its about a COMMITMENT to running a football team with the owner not having to be president, gm, quasi coach, chief advertiser, monday night football intro guy, pizza hut delivery commercial guy, etc etc, to the point of sickness.

You YOURSELF have admitted he isn't the best gm in the league. Ok. Jerry is committed to the best. (I didn't say excellence lest it remind us of who he is becoming more and more like). Why doesn't he fire himself as gm?

I'm waiting.

Nah, let's prmote the undeserving coordinator who's half of the problem instead.

That'll fix us!

What does 1-5 say?

were they incompetent at 13-3 or 11-5 or are you what your record says you are only when you lose?
