Let's look at the bright side.

Beyond the obvious..that if this injury is more serious than some want to believe and letting it rest increases the chances he'll play come September..

..the other big plus is that the best player we have will not have taken a snap in pre-season games..

there will be no film for the opposing coaches to dissect..

the offense that is being run now will differ from the one used when TO returns..most assuredly..

and we will have the advantage early in the season of having a number of things going on once TO is playing that other teams will take weeks to catchup with and may never really get it figured out.

I think we all need to stop reading the media posts about why TO not playing right now is a disaster waiting to happen and see the silver-lining nobody seems to want to acknowledge.

We have a QB in Bledsoe who is going to easily adjust to TO being open by 10 yards every play and a WR in TO who has a reputation that preceeds him that forces every CB to give him a 10 yard cushion every snap so as not to be embarrassed that he'll turn a 10 yard catch into a 50 yd. TD on them.

Relax folks.

The show is about to begin.

Don't forget your Popcorn.

so is this our top 4?
TO
Terry Glenn
Patrick Crayton
Sam Hurd

Did Hurd overtake Crayton?

so with TO out...

Terry Glenn
Patrick Crayton
Sam Hurd

I wonder how good this Hurd guy is. If he lives up to all this Training Camp hype, maybe we wouldn't have really needed to take the "TO risk".

..in that it also illustrates another interesting point that with TO sitting and getting well..

..it gives players like Hurd and Rector and others at WR a chance to play over the next practices and games to get more timing and exposure for making the team or being added to the practice squad that might not have happened for us.

As to your specific question..I don't think Hurd really would replace TO by any stretch and no team would possibly see in Hurd a TO substitute at this point or anytime in the past before signing him.

But like Crayton last year, Hurd has the opportunity to be seen and to contribute.

With all the pre-draft posturing about maybe needing to draft a WR #1..

Hurd and Crayton maybe proving you don't need to.

And meantime..TO's absence makes it all possible.

Hmmmm...
