Remember the grief many of us took for suggesting that Norv Turner was the right hire before Wade?

Well, no matter what you are going to say about an 8-8 record (if you want to make excuses the way they do for Wade, then the Chargers have more excuses), Norv Turner is about to take his team farther than ours FOR THE 2ND SEASON IN A ROW.

Last year AFC Championship

Now, in an elimination game, they are blowing out the Broncos.

Jimmy and the whole Fox crew praised Turner today, and Madden is doing the same right now.

I said at the time that you can't judge a coach based on any experience in Oakland, and when Turner was in Washington, their little owner was trying to be Al Davis.

His team struggled this year, but LT wasn't healthy, Gates wasn't healthy, Merriman (their version of Dware) was lost for the season in week 1, offensive line injuries, the Ed Hockuli call, etc, etc., but THEY WON THEIR FINAL 4 GAMES OF THE YEAR, if they win tonight, they will win their division and they will host a playoff game next week.

You basically echo'd what I'd posted in this thread, and couldnt agree more obviously.

Everyone said I was hung up on Norv or something, but I knew at the very least he'd do wonders for Tony Romo. And he has done wonders for Phillip Rivers, who doesnt have nearly the talent around him Romo does here, and look at the difference. Rivers is the best QB in the league right now.

I dont think I've ever once said Jones should have hired Norv instead of Wade, because I did believe Wade would have a huge impact on the defense. But after two seasons now, its pretty obvious which coach is having more success. I wont be surprised if they go far in the AFC Playoffs. They know they can beat Indy.

So Norv's team shows how to respond to adversity, while we collapse repeatedly under Phillips. Jerry fell in love with Garrett and from there it was a short route to Phillips. Can you imagine if Jerry would have made Garrett the had coach right away? There was serious talk of that. Would have made the Lane Kiffin hiring look respectable.....

Seems like all the teams in contention played with some type of purpose, except for us. :(

Dbair you and I end up agreeing a lot. On this issue I actually DID say that Norv should have been hired, and was laughed to scorn by a lot of posters, which is fine, because I've been royally wrong on other issues. (I wanted Henson :)) But I felt like it would have been the right hire then, and I still believe it today.
