everyone just brings up about not getting in cap hell down the road once romo retires. well *** is the point in saving cap space when that happens other than being the Jags or Raiders? At best only Smith and Frederick will be here, maybe Martin too but the 9ers just let iupati leave. No QB, TE, maybe Dez will still be here.. Are you that confident they'll find a QB to groom? Cuz I don't. I'd rather they tank a whole year and get the best QB or def prospect.

There is no QB worth grooming this draft. The Pats got the best one last year and might end up being their Rodgers. Not saying he'll be that good just giving example...

Doesn't matter what free agent is mentioned. It could be Murray, Hardy, Carter, Sheard, Suh, Goldson, or even Jed Collins. The majority around here want nobody. I keep seeing things like, "it's only day two," "he's too expensive", "he's not worth 4,6,12,or 20 million", "don't want to get in cap hell", "it's a different culture", etc,etc,etc...

So here's my question for those of you who think that it's a great thing that we are standing still, and even losing good players, while other teams are adding pieces. Who do you think we should wait for? Who do you think will still be around after the rest of the NFL runs thorough the available lists? Who do you want to target? What 3rd,4th,and 5th tiered guys do you think JJ is waiting on?

There ought to be a ton of you answer this question, because there are countless threads with you offering reasons why we should not be making our team better.

Quite frankly, regardless of the reason or the excuse, there have been far too many bargains going around for us not to have gotten better. Also, we have too much cap flexibility available to use "worth" as a deterrence not to have signed some "pieces"....

Bo Jackson in tecmo bowl
Michael Irvin in super bowl tecmo bowl
Mike Vick from madden 2004

Best team in NFL history of histories.

I honestly don't remember. But 6-10 sounds right. But those 12 wins came from the most balanced offense in years with much credit to a coaching staff that insisted on running the ball even when it wasn't working. Our offense made our defense better. But there were still many glimpses of that awful 2013 defense. The Mincey signing was a good one. But you need stars around Minceys. The perfect team is a team that drafts stars and fills the other roster spots with Minceys. It worked for Seattle's defense. Drafted rookie stars like Sherman, Wagner, Thomas, Chancellor, and signed underrated vets to affordable deals like Bennett, Avril, McDaniel.

I'm all for bolstering the defense. Trust me, I'm with you on that but, I seem to remember a bunch of off-season know it all posters last year throwing down a record number of keystrokes in the "time to eat crow" threads by mid-season last year. Guess who is fueling the "we will rue the day" threads the past few days? Weird.

Here's what Gosselin says about free agency...

"If I owned an NFL team, I would put the building on lockdown the opening week of free agency. Nobody in, nobody out. This is when all the crazy money — correct that, all the stupid money — is spent. And no one has spent crazy money over the years like the Jones family."

No matter what? So for $15 million/year you would still want him? If he is that good he will get that much.

Nah not that much. But I wouldn't mind 10 or 12 million a year only if it was a short term contract. Maybe a 2 year deal with a team option on the 3rd.

It wouldn't matter what anyone answers to your question. You'll spend the rest of the thread whining and disputing it.

This is a "make me feel better because I like to whine" post. If you want to feel better call up your mommy and see if she'll let you suckle up for old times sake, maybe. Otherwise, hop back into one of the other threads that you've spent whining in and call it a day. Or not, whatever.

Ok, "look ma, another kid who isn't smart enough to answer a question "

Wow, thanks. I feel better now.

Dallas will sign some players and believe me, the team isn't crying about anyone they've lost so far.

Bruce Carter? At this time last year we were wondering if Marinelli was going to bench him outright. Marinelli was busy telling the media that he doesn't build guys ego... he give them jobs and they either do them or they don't. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

Durant? Nothing special and far from irreplaceable.

Parnell? No big deal. (sorry X)

They'll get done what they need to get done and what they plan to get done. People are saying it is only the second day of free agency because... it is only the second day of free agency.

Signing expensive guys early is fun for fans but rarely does it pan out. I wanted Dallas to try for Suh but I knew they wouldn't and I'm fine with it because it is the smart way to do things.

For the record, it wasn't intended to make you feel better (in case you missed that point). I also had no delusions that it would stop your incessant whining either, FWIW.

I would prefer to keep our players. But not at the expense of overpaying for them. Harris, Durant and Carter were all overpaid and making an offer above the offer they accepted just to keep them is crazy. Besides, we don't know if they wanted to remain here.

I wouldn't care as much about us not signing anyone, if we weren't losing so many of the guys who were good for us.

Normally I always agree with what you say and always enjoy reading your posts. On this I don't agree sorry. Lb depth was the backbone to the defense. Most of the forum talk all the junk about Carter and go back and see how many games he sealed the deal on. I agree he was lazy at times but someone, anyone tell me, who is going to replace him. That's another hole to fill. We need de, lb'er or two, need a cb. All that cannot be filled via the draft. Well it can but they won't be doing much first year. Durant I'm ok with losing, he wasn't a starter. Carter was. We all are die hard, crazy as Hell, love our dallas cowboys. If we wasn't we wouldn't stay on this forum for hours at a time acting like the owner of the team. But we have to have a de. Now we have to get lb help, when we have other positions to be addressing

It really worries me that our front office and coaches are so much dumber than our website couch posters.
It's one thing to have an opinion; it's quite another to think our leadership is so stupid that we will end up running 3rd stringers off the street out there this season.

Those of us who think, "it's only day 3 of a two month process" are not saying sign no one. We just trust the way things are going. We ask, "of the players who have actually been signed in the first two days, which ones did you really want us to sign?" Who are the big stud pass rushers available to us? Who were the DBs in our price range? Was Bruce Carter, who lost his job at one point, worth 5 million per year?

I just don't understand the panic.
