January, 1996....let's see....daughter was 1, I was working for about $15/hr...Clinton was NOT having sex with fat Monica (and probably actually NOT with his horrid wife)...

...I don't really care about a game that never was...

At home, maybe... after all they did hand the Packers one of their 3 losses that year and they had a pretty good hex going on them at Texas Stadium.
The road game that would have actually taken place, no. Wouldn't have been as bad as the 45-17 shellacking that took place the next season at Lambeau, but it was the Packers' time.

Do you guys think if we met in the 1996 NFC Championship game you would have beaten us in Lambeau? Discuss.
Yes, Farve would have gifted us some INTs.

Does anybody else think Farve was way overrated?

Sure he made wow plays with his incredible arm strength, but he so often single-handedly lost games with untimely Ints; meanwhile, Aikman wasn't flashy but minimized Ints and methodically executed the Cowboys offense (and won 3 Super Bowls).

Aaron Rodgers is much more like Aikman than Farve (and water is wet).

Of course. Farve was grossly over rated. He threw countless games away with his pointless gambling. He was lucky to have won a SB....he had a good defense but stole all the credit with his phony hick persona.

Packer fan trolling about a 21yr hypothetical. Must be really slow on the GB forums.

No. The Cowboys lost Irvin to a broken collarbone and Sanders to a broken orbital bone against the Panthers. Eric Bjornson, who filled in somewhat capably for Jay Novacek, who was on the injured list all season long, had a chronic ankle sprain, and was limited. With Leon Lett suspended, the Cowboy run defense was not good (Anthony Johnson ran for over 100 yards in the Panthers game). Charles Haley did not play after November, and ultimately retired and took the pass rush with him. Emmitt Smith had played the season with bone chips in his ankle. The Cowboys had no vertical threat offensively, did not have the security of Novacek in the middle, had a less than 100% Smith and an offensive line on the decline (Donaldson was completely washed up, Newton's weight was becoming a real problem, and Tuinei was battling knee issues that ultimately ended his career).

If the Cowboys had managed to beat the Panthers, the Packers would have wiped the floor with them.

Haley probably should have retired, but he ended up taking a year off before returning to play one last year with the 49ers.
