I need you historian experts to help me out here. I seem to remember Spags saying something a couple of years ago about the Cowboys not having a single individual player that returned more than two KO's for touchdowns in his entire Cowboys career.

My memory aint what it used to be so I may have the number wrong. But if this is true, it's amazing. 46 years; a dominant franchise; and no player ever returning more than two KO's for TDs???

Dale, is there any way you could ask Mickey about this? I don't want to mis-quote him and I'm only going from memory.

I thought Kevin Williams had more than 2 in his career?

I believe we haven't returned a KO for a TD since something like '93

We did against Philly in '03. Opening kickoff, they tried an onside kick. Can't remember who got it. Anybody?

you're right about that, and it was Randal Williams who returned it, fastest TD in NFL history

Woody Dantzler had that spectacular KO return in 01 also.

Hershel Walker was a good KR guy for us in his second stint with us. I remember him having a few returns inside the 5....can't remember if he scored on any tho.

Swinton was a good kick returner, he just never did much as a WR.

EveryoneElse, I was thinking the same about Walker.

But heck, who cares about breaking one for a TD? That's a gripe I never understood about Tyson Thompson this past season. Sure he wasn't flashy, but he was consistently getting us field position at the 30 or more.

I personally would take that over a KR who breaks a fancy TD run now and again, but gets bad field position more times than not.

well it looks like ol mickey might be right about this one !!
after way too much research this is what i came up with on Cowboy
kick returns for TD's.

marsh....................1961 (1)
renfro....................1965 (1) 100 yds vs SF
renfro....................1966 (1)
washington.............1970 (1)
ike thomas..............1971 (2) one was 101 yds vs NYJets
henderson...............1975 (1)
dixon......................1989 (1)
wright.....................1990 (1) vs NYGiants
wright.....................1991 (1) 102 yds vs Atl.
kevin williams............1994 (1)
swinton....................2002 (1) if i remember this saved his job for a while
dantzler....................2002 (1)
williams....................2003 (1) vs Phil. 37 yds

so only renfro, thomas, and wright even have 2.
i quit looking after 2003 because i dont remember us having any lately
plus my eyeballs are fading fast.

more useless infromation... the most kickoff returns for TD's in a career
is 6......done by 4 players..but the only guy to do it all for the same team
is Gale Sayers (Bears).

any and all of this could be wrong so dont make any bar bets without
checking it yourself....

I was happy with Thompson last year. He avg. over 20 yds a return. Walker was a good one.

I don't think Thompson fumbled even once all year. Unlike Barber and Jones.

That Danzler td should count for 2! That was just amazing, I think he juked/broke almost the entire kickoff team!

EDIT:

He lost one fumble all year and he actaully forced one fumble on special teams. So the "myth" of him fumbling has been busted.
