The NFL has ruled that the hit that knocked Trent Green out was legal.

Anyone who say the tape in slow motion has to agree. Green slid late, the defender Robert Geathers did not hit him in the head, and Geathers was also blocked in the back by Chiefs wideout Eddie Kennison.

I agree, everyone that was tripping on it really was overreacting. Geathers jumped just as Green was starting to slide, and with Kennsion pushing him in the back (isnt that illgal) It didnt help the cause.

In all fairness Green was trying to get to the sideline and when he realized that wasnt gonna happen he tried to slide to not take the hit, and ended up taking a bigger one

Kennison barely nudged him, it had pretty much no impact on the play. The guy was already going down for a low shot before he left his feet to make a tackle. He knew Trent was going low.

I disagree. Gathers was in the process of trying to avoid the hit when he was hit from behind. It was not hard but he was already off balance and the nudge was enough to make him lose the ability to control his direction. He was no longer able to get his feet under him to jump clear of Green. It was unfortunate but I do not believe that it was an intentional act.

While it kind of seemed like he got blocked into it there was definately some intent on Geathers part at the time of impact.

You dont knock a guy out by falling into him from a block from behind.

Green did slide pretty late. I didn't see anything wrong with the play myself.

The only thing I didnt like about the hit being called leagal is how the Cincy guys throws his shoulder right into Green head chest area even though Green is sliding on the ground. That is where the fine/penalty should be called not because he hit him while he was sliding. It should be called because he drove his shoulder into him while Green was on the ground.
