And the idiot Dolphins announcers just acted like it was the correct call. Their announcing team really sucks, they are both biased and clueless. I loved how Griese (I think) said we run well because we have such great FB play. You know, if either of our FB converts actually makes the roster.

I was listening to the texans broadcast for the first quarter last night. The guy was screaming and yelling...it was like gorilla monsoon calling the wf or something. They sacked bree's and forced a fumble and the guy sounded like someone hit a game 7 walk off home run to win the series. It was nuts. Spencer tillman was calm and quiet and had to keep correcting things. Guy was awful.

Their announcer kept saying, "And they'll get the ball at the 20 because of the touchback" on kicks after he earlier explained that the kicks now start at the 25 yard line on touchbacks. In other words, he read something someone told him to read early on, but didn't pay attention to it beyond that. Even worse, neither of the other two announcers corrected him, either directly or during commercials.

Then there was a play where Dak got a little pressure and rolled out to his left and the announcer said, "See, Romo would have been sacked right there." and it wasn't even a near sack situation and Romo has escaped much worse than that.

Sounds like that guy might want to switch to decaf.

Haven't posted in a while, but this group of refs was horrible from the start. I really hope they watch the tape and take note of how many ghost calls they made. If you don't actually see it, you simply cannot call it. How could all 8 refs get these calls wrong, agreeing with each other. Yeah, its preseason, but is this really the best they have out of all the applicants?

On one penalty I think it was Morris had a run from the 25 (was first down, touchback placement) to the 30 or so and the announcer was saying he had made a first down and we'd lose the first down now. He completely forgot that the LoS was the 25 and apparently couldn't tell a 5 yard run from a 10 yard run.

went to the game (thanks BlindFaith!) and I have to say that was some pretty bad officiating both ways.. the notable calls that stand out were:

Hitchen's personal foul (facemask penalty). Just ridiculous as it is clear as day the facemask should be called against the Dolphins player
OPI on Butler. If you call that OPI you might as call OPI on every pass thrown in the NFL this season
Hands to the face of Dallas Center: The Dolphins DLineman had his hand on the upper part of the center's shoulderpads, the center just made it look worse than it was by tilting his head all the way back
The 1st holding call on the opening drive on Martin. Bogus call
The 2nd holding call on Williams. The defender brought him to the ground after another Dolphins DB runs into the both of them

What about when two of the announcers spent about a minute talking about Isiah Pead, then the third guy, after they stopped talking about pead) says "How about Isiah Pead, he's had a good game" (paraphrasing). Then there was a pause and one of the says "That's who we were just talking about". One of those guys was drunk.

That was such a bad call. A facemask penalty against the guy who not only didn't grab a facemask, but got HIS facemask pulled. I found myself yelling at the tv for the first time this season, then I remembered it was only preseason, lol

Or how about

"Daniel Thomas was our second round pick a few years ago"

Bob - "Yeah, I think he was a 3rd or 4th rounder."

Announcer "No a 2nd!!"

Bob - "Wow! Really!"

I remember the sack line - it was ridicules.

Surprising because that was Dick Stockton who for many years was the number two guy for years at CBS and Fox behind Summerall. He also called all those great Lakers/Celtics NBA Finals. I guess we all slip eventually.

I started to do the same thing and realized it was not only preseason, but a replay of a preseason game. So I stifled the urge... But I did grumble a little bit.

I almost wonder if having the 8 man crew made them think they had to "see more" to justify the 8 man crew.

What's more maddening is that we have instant replay for pretty much everything but penalties, to the claim that it "drags the game out" personally, I'd be more than happy to "drag the game out" to make sure these chuckleheads get stuff like this right. A replay of that would have taken half the time it took these guys to huddle up and STILL screw it up.
