I've been just as harsh as the next fan about Roy Williams and his struggles but after watching the game lastnite and listening to his locker room interview today I dont wanna give up on the man. Without trying to get spiritual I look at a man just going through some tribulations right now that he needs to get through. He made a remark in one of his interviews that while he was up in Detroit he would accept having bad numbers in exchange for getting a 'W' and being on a winning team. Fate has a funny way of granting your wishes and looks like Roys wishes are being granted cause he's getting just that. The hand that fate has dealt RW this season he can fold and totally be a loss or he can make the hand work for him and overcome, its up to him what he does. Before some of you try to jump on me and say I'm being a RW apologist that I am not and have not cause I've been very disappointed with his season but anyone whose on this board and is a proud man had to feel for him in that game yesterday cause it brought back thoughts and memories of times I was just down and seemed like the world was weighing down on me. I do feel that at THIS moment his play time should be reduced in favor of Ogletree and Hurd cause the production just isnt there right now but I disagree with the cutting him positions on this board because he doesnt suck I dont see how any football fan can be serious and say that cause he's too talented but I do agree that he is sucking right now which is different from the first.

I'm not a fan of RW, but when he is on the field, I want him to play well for the betterment of the team, as with every Cowboys playing.

Agreed with getting O-Tree and Hurd more involved and reducing RW's playing time.

The guy has 7 TD's. The crap he was getting yesterday from Joe Buck is unbelievable. The media treats him like they treated T.O. except he isn't falling into the trap.

I can understand some fans overreacting and wanting us to cut him after this year. Just like Anthony Spencer or Mike Jenkins last year.

But I heard Calvin Hill on the radio today saying that the whole Roy Williams situation was a failure. He said he thinks we should cut him (and Martellus Bennett for that matter). 7 TD's in his first full year people...Rediculous.

I'm still a fan, too. I know he'll never be worth what we gave for him, and I can't figure out how he looks so slow out there -- maybe Roy Williamses just don't age well -- but he still has a lot of talent and can still help us win.

I saw on another board (from some blog post) where he was charting his catches in practice and saying he'd just practiced well and needed to keep doing so to earn back the trust of his QB and OC. So at least he's really working at it.

It will be Roy that is going to have to make a play and his ability to make that play will be the difference between playoff win or playoff bust.

Thats the problem with us Cowboy fans (im generalizing before some holier than thou fan squaks that they never did that) we get so impatient with our players that if we're not getting immediate results we wanna throw our players under the bus and into the trash. Understandably with the contract that Roy got its expected for you to play to the level you were payed but we as fans cant be so quick to give up either and the same goes with M. Bennett all you that wanna dump him just because Phillips has been playing good of recent I just have a strong feeling that would be one to really bite us if we let him go.

I dont know which coach said it but we have to get him the ball where he can make the catch,he has trouble getting off the LOS sometimes, a GO route might not be the best idea.

He's a Cowboy, thus I'm a fan. I will be until he's not and I will root for him every week.

I rewatched his one play. Austin ran a slant on the other side and was wide open. Roy would have been wide open if he ran the slant. That said, i think he has good hands and good side but lacks NFL speed and the smarts to function in this offense. In other words, he is too stupid for todays blitz happy league. Doesn’t know his hot routes and lacks communication with Garrett/Romo.

I will cheer when Garrett/Romo throws him the token TDs but i think next season he needs to go.

I wonder if he's having trouble with the Dallas stage, the grandeur and scrutiny of it all. If that's the case, he better buckle up for the playoffs. I hope this is when he stands up.

I think it's pretty obvious that either Tony, Garrett, or both decided he wasn't getting the ball on Sunday. I don't care if that's what they decide to do, but if it is, get someone else on the field.

There were times he'd have single coverage or be running wide open and they just would not throw the ball his way. Frustrating to see that as an on-looker. It's hard to complain about the offensive performance, but if you're not using all your tools, it is frustrating.

I don't see a conspiracy theory here. I don't think any one has any confidence in Williams at all. The look on Romos face after his one toss to Williams said it all to me.

Roy brought a lot of this on himself with his smug attitude. It's one thing to stand up for yourself against a ravenous media, but it's another to smile after dropping catches, to run lazy routes and have a poor work ethic, and to question out your role on the team in public after all of that.

He brought it all on himself, and I don't feel any sympathy for him now that he's starting to realize that he sucks.

Talent is a god-given gift, but it takes work ethic and a strong attitude to succeed after that. Roy is a tool.

What ??????????

so it takes a WR two years to get used to our QB

and whine about how they are not insink - thats ridiculous
var adTarget;adTarget = topBnr ;document.writeln('');var CasaleArgs = new Object();CasaleArgs.version = 2;CasaleArgs.adUnits = "2";CasaleArgs.casaleID = 104874;

that on the WR to go out there an work at it

if R$$$W 's can't get it done with Romo how he ever have a 1000+ yard season with Kitna ???????????????????

Noted for having good hands, Williams' eight drops this season tie a career high, and many are wondering if it's worth keeping him around next season
It would be difficult for the Cowboys to cut Williams. Dallas gave up first- and third-round draft picks to Detroit for him in 2008. The Cowboys would have to pay Williams close to $9 million next season in bonus money, whether he's on the roster or not.

"Not in Year 1," Williams said when asked if he would get released. "Not in Year 1 of this thing. Now, next year, if this is the same thing going on, then I'll be like, 'Oh [expletive], I've got to get my [expletive] together, but right now, no. It's play ball. I'm good."

"I have to take my game to another level," Williams said. "I have to do that, and it starts this Sunday and this is pretty much a playoff game for this football team. Hopefully, I can win the confidence of my peers here and the fans and even my family. They were getting on me. My brother is getting on me hard, and my mom is getting on me. I've got to get these people off me, and the only way I can do that is play my game."

The Bennett thing doesn't bother me much. Most experts were all about this pick. Everyone was riding his jock in training camp eve. You can't win them all.

The Roy trade was scrutinized from the get-go. It was clear to lots of people that we gave up way too much for the guy and Aikman even kept questioning our talent department for making a horrible error. Jerry panicked and pulled the trigger. This is one of the many, many examples of why we need a football guy in there who can make big decisions like this. Most fans would've made a trade like this, and that's why we have no business in an NFL front office.
