Amazing!

I was watching the 1977 Cowboys on America's Game on NFL Network and they showed him run a kickoff for a touchdown.

He was one of the more atheletic players on either side of the ball.... He was like Dennis Rodman in that he went by his own tune.

Any of you guys remember when he stripped Bradshaw in the Super Bowl and returned it for a TD? My God he was a special athelete. Too bad he ruined it all with drugs. He was almost as gifted as Lawrence Taylor: seriously. But then someone upstairs has always loved Thomas, as evidenced by the fact he won 28 mil a few years ago in the lottery.............

Yes. He was recognized as such a dynamic playmaker by some pretty special individuals in their own right. Lawrence Taylor, for one, has said many times he wore #56 because of Thomas Henderson.

He helped strip it but #58 Mike Hegman was the one that scored the TD on the return.

In his rookie year he almost did the same thing against the Steelers on the opening kick off in Super Bowl X. I think he went for about 80 yards with it.

He took a handoff from Preston Pearson at the 8 on a reverse and ran it 48 yards to Pittsburgh's 44. Unfortunately, we went backward and punted.

His 97-yard kickoff return was in his rookie season, too (1975, not 1977), in the second game.

Dunked it over the goal post too.
I'm not sure if he was the first to do that but I can't remember anyone else doing that before.

SHAME on me guys. I was a little inebriated and depressed last night after my Spartans lost to OSU in hoops. I knew that was Hegamin. Total brain cramp.

Was it the first or second super bowl vs Pittsburg that Landry ran Henderson on a reverse on the opening kick off??

the first. Adam said it was only 48 yards or so. It seemed a lot longer than that.

But I've learned not to question Adam. :D

coke ruined this guy, but he was an awesome player with a huge upside...he was a great blitzer, he played coverage probably better than any LB in football and was very good vs the run...he had great speed

its always going to be about what could have been with him...had he not ruined himself, we might have another Super Bowl title or two...he left a big void when he was gone...he could have been a huge difference maker at OLB
