Not trying to call anyone out, embarrass, etc, etc.

For those who have supported or are Gurode fans.......

What were your thoughts on the way he played tonight?

How is that any different from what he did previously in his career?

Isn't that the reason we had to go out and get Rivera?

I thought he looked A LOT improved this year before tonights game. I can't watch the game until it replays (not on tv here). If he played bad, we are in trouble, because AJ doesn't impress me at all.

I thought his performance tonight was about as bad as any center could possibly play. He whiffed on blocks, messed up the snap count resulting in Bledsoe getting drilled in the head and also snapped the ball way over Romo's head in the shotgun as well. I thought he played very well in the first 3 games, but tonight was by far the biggest test he has faced in the preseason. I have never questioned his talent, but I do wonder about him mentally. He seems to make too many mistakes. This OL still scares me to death. Hopefully, it all works out, but at this point, there are still questions about every position on the OL.

I wish Al Johson would of been in there to shut everyone up. He would of been pimped out like a dude in prison.

Couple of issues:

When JJ went off his rookie year who was that at center on all those highlight runs?

When exactly did Gurode "win this job" at center?

BP has led Joe Fan to believe Gurode beat out AJ sometime in the Feb-June timeframe. Zero live action contributed to his decision.

That decision came down to the BP "I won't let you fail" comment.

So far he's 0-2. Gurode/Petiti IMO.

Ego. BP has one of the biggest.

I said it before in the big Gurode vs. AJ thread.......

How many times did BP say Gurode is better vs 3-4 NT's in practice but AJ is better vs 4-3 D's, quick NT's and getting to the 2nd level?

At least 3 times.

He also I'm not sure how this is going to end up re the center battle.

Seattle minus 3 defensive starters on DL.

NO is horrible on D and yet Kosier said their was miscommunication upfront.

SF sucks.

First real 4-3 DL and Williams looks like Sapp in his prime.

Gurode's 5th year.

You are what you are.

Solid, versatile backup.

I have to agree. What few highlights I saw looked like the Gurode of old.

The difference between the Al Johnson that everyone mentioned as possible Pro Bowler and the Julius Jones highlight runs? Bledsoe.

Teams send guys up the middle on him. Parcells exploited that weakness originally and the league has copied. Can't run those draws up the middle when there are blitzers clogging it up.

I think BP tried to go Gurode because he has more size and expects more action up the middle against Bledsoe.

kevin williams is an absolute beast- he destroyed Andre and would have destroyed Al as well.

In fairness to Gurode, I watched a game last season where Pat Williams made Olin Kreutz look like Clay Shiver, and Kreutz is supposedly the best center in the NFL. I'm not quite sure what people were expecting.

With personnel like Minnesota has on both lines, it was going to be a tough game. Bledsoe was getting rid of the ball, and we've said on more than one occasion that this team will need to pass to set up the run.

I thought he had a rough game but I think the same can be said for the team in general, looked like the guys had dead legs

Gurode had a hard time with the D line. Period. I think he is still probably As good as Johnson...maybe a bit better physically, but his play has been good up til last night. He had a few moments, but I'm not going to freak out just yet. I would like to watch a bit closer before I completely blame the Bledsoe dropped snap on him. The Romo shotgun thin was not good if that was Gurode, but Bledsoe may have just dropped the snap just as easily as Gurode could have muffed it.

Gurode snapped the ball before he was supposed to. None of the other O-lineman moved when he snapped the ball and you could tell Bledsoe was surprised to get the ball in his hands at that moment.

I'm expecting for him not to have the same "lapses in focus" that have thwarted his entire career.

This is the same MO with Gurrode, look good in camp, and lose concentration during the season. I'm sure parcells was disgusted last night.

No, I couldn't tell because I haven't seen it yet. Thus the comment.

I presume in a reg season game, with Flo avail, the scheme wouldve kicked a guard down on Pat W to help out with a chip more often than not

Sorry about that, I meant that as a blanket statement in that it was obvious to any who watched it.
