Honestly, defense alone should win this game

I think this is an extremely dismissive position, ignoring hat Dallas almost lost to the Giants, and the pass rush everyone seems to be reveling in also got their tails handed to them in the second half against the Pats.

There are too many question marks for this to be sop clearly defined as what appears to be an easy game, as illustrated in the OP's post.

Don't mistake me. I don't think it's easy at all. But, weren't we picked to be the NFCE champs? Weren't we supposed to compete with GB and Seattle for the NFC this year? Philly is not good and they made NY look bad. Yes, we had to hold on to win last time, but that was week one. Total different week. It's. It gonna be easy , but it's completely doable...

Don't agree. The offense needs to do something. This game won't be won with less than 17 points. Imo

You must not remember the game, go back and watch it again.

On their own, the Giants only scored 6 offensive points during the first 58 minutes of play, 9 for the game. The 3 very freak turnovers directly, I'll say it again - directly, put 17 points on the board. Those turnovers aren't likely to happen again and were the only reason a comeback was needed. It had nothing to do with Tony and Dez being in the game.

Cowboys win 20-9

Don't need to watch it again the Cowboys were the healthiest they've been all season in the opener. Turnovers are part of football and credit to the Giants for getting 3 of them. The Cowboys have had opportunities to get several turnovers this season but they have DB's that can't catch a football that's thrown directly to them and can't seem to recover fumbles that are bouncing right in front of them. This defense isn't opportunistic. Despite 356 yards by Romo and 3 TD's it took a last ditch drive courtesy of a huge clock management gaff by the Giants to pull the game out. Say what you will but the Cowboys were very fortunate to win that game. They were being gashed by the run with the game on the line as the Giants moved uncontested all the way to the Cowboys one yard line and proceeded to blow the game.

None of us including the team know what to expect from Cassel but as long as the Cowboys are playing without Romo and Dez they're an average team at best. This isn't close to the same team we had last season and even that team had to battle for their lives to beat the Giants in NY. The Cowboys are an easy team to defend without Romo, Dez or a solid running game. Not saying they can't win tomorrow but they won't do it with an ineffective offense and having to depend on their defense to win a close game.

Well the first game Dallas gave NY 3 turnovers, they turned that into 2 TD'S and 1 FG or 17 points . This time Dallas needs to have no turnovers.

Credit to the Giants for capitalizing on those turnovers they would have won them the game had they not botched it in the end. Might not be easy having no turnovers with Cassel who has a propensity for turnovers. With him being thrown in after only 5 weeks with the team it's anyone's guess what we'll get with him. Without Romo and the Cowboys forced to go with a journeymen QB that puts them at a disadvantage.

Romo to Bees, Bees fumbles, ball gets knocked out (rare) leads to Giants TD
Romo to Witten, Witten doesnt catch it, it gets tipped and picked off, timing a tad bit off (rare) leads to a Giants FG
Romo to Devon Street, Street gets it knocked out and a Giants player catches it and leads to a TD

it certainly does. the only thing going for us is the mystery of a non Weeden, maybe more CMIKE, Collins rather than Leary, Butler Offense coming in and a different, guns loaded Defense.

Cant wait to see that D together.

You probably lost everyone here when you said that Romo and Dez were "maybe" our best two players. But, whatever, wowwww. Anyways, my point on Red was this. This team needs to come out ready to play. After a bye week, and catching NY on a short week, there are certain coaching and preparation factors that need to be seen tomorrow. This is a perfect game for JG to show everyone that he's not in "training" anymore. If teams like Pittsburgh can win with a 3rd team QB, or Carolina can go on the road to Seattle and win without one quality WR and a similar RB situation as ours , Garrett needs to have his team completely ready to win! There's a huge difference in a regular loss, and a loss that falls on a coach. All I'm saying is this is a very winnable game, and us missing Dez and Tony shouldn't be the scapegoat for us before we even play. This is as healthy as we've been since week one.

Greg Hardy might be the best player on the team.

I Gregory might be the most talented.

If we do not PRESS COVER we will lose- its very simple really. The eagle corners were all up in the face of every giants receiver- it allowed the pressure to gt there.

If we play off 7-8 yards Eli will destroy us.

The pass-rush and LB play should be damn good! I'm super excited to see if the defense can improve on a solid showing last week... But at the same time, I still want to temper my expectations for the defense just a bit, because they haven't really proven anything yet... This wont be a defense that can be leaned on until they can generate more turnovers...

The offence will still have to put up points, it'll just be hard without Dez. I hope the dline smashes Eli and the running backs, but I just think he'll do nothing but quick passes. If our lbs and safetys tackle properly, then yeah, we'll be in good shape

Yes. The offense also has to sustain drives.

Defense has been a problem all season. Fans don't like to admit it, but it has. It's also got the potential to be good. Hopefully, that's what we'll see this week as the offense will still be very limited.

Tackling and bad angles...yes...I still don't like the safety tandem Dallas has.

Even more disconcerting is the number of potential turnovers that they have failed to collect. Hopefully with Hardy, Gregory and McClain, they can turn the worm on that metric. They need it to happen today, because I cannot see a scenario where the Cowboys win without a turnover or two...and that definitely means winning the turnover differential.

Dallas will need a pretty clean performance today...definitely not 17 penalties for 135 yards (Buffalo vs. Giants). This game will turn on the ability of the Dallas secondary to slow an already hobbled Randle/Beckham tandem. Maybe another shot from Wilcox on Beckham as in the first game. Make Donnell and others have to beat you. If they can hold up the WRs, then the NASCAR package should be rather interesting to watch. With a stacked line, Marinelli has to be licking his chops. He can be really creative and he has multiple areas of attack...mostly on the right side of the Giants line via Newhouse and Schwartz. I like the one-on-one between Hardy and Flowers as well...he will win that match up without help from a TE or RB, especially if Gregory lines up next to him. For this reason, NY will really need to make good use of first and second down...if not, then it will be tough to convert with three step drops, especially against a 3-2-6, which I'm sure Dallas will want to use. If it worked against Brady, I'm pretty sure it can work against Manning. If the Giants can't run on 1st and 2nd they will struggle.

Finally, they absolutely have to win the field position battle, or at least not have it be the dominant factor in the game. New England killed them in that area.

I agree with OP 100%. If we can't beat this worthless Giants team then we have no business even talking about playoffs. Yeah, we don't have our starting QB or Dez but they have plenty of injuries as well. No Prince, no Beatty, no running game, a horrible O lone, etc.

I don't care what QB is starting, the Giants are dead last against the pass. Has anyone seen their D line? It's a joke, they have ZERO pass rush and something like 8 sacks TOTAL for the season. A grade school QB should be able to complete the passes that Cassel will have to make. The Giants defense is a back up QB's dream, there is no excuse for us not to dominate offensively.

Their offense? As much as I despise Hardy (and still refuse to show any enthusiasm no matter what he does) did you see what he did to Brady? Gregory made Newhouse look like a poodle the first time we played the Giants and now we he's back plus the disgusting Hardy.

If we don't win this game we should be emabrrased. No excuses!

Cannot emphasize this point enough!

Eli kills us with the short and intermediate routes. Slants, digs, quick outs and hitches. If we can get in their faces, it will allow the pass rush to get to Eli.

If we cannot slow them down off the line, the pass rush isn't going to matter.

1. Sack Eli.

2. Force turnovers.

3. Sustain drives.

That's how the Cowboys win today.

Gmoney gets it. It's conversations like these that separate those who know about football and those who are fans only.

Yeah, because whenever someone disagrees with you, it's due to the fact he/she doesn't know football and you do. Yawn.

The offense has to at least put up 20. The defense can keep it competitive, but they've been known to give up points in the second half.

All of y'all are worrying for NO reason about the Dez playing, not playing story. First, the defense should be the best we've had in a very, very, very long time and beat the midgets pretty much by themselves. We should win like Seattle has beat teams the last few years, Defense, defense, defense!!! If we can't beat this sorry Giants team without Dez, we are pretty bad anyways!! Did y'all watch the Giants-Eagles game last week? They are horrible. We've had two weeks off, and they are on a short week. Their OL is beat up, OBJ is limping, and Eli, well, he's Eli. This is where Red either proves he's a coach, or he proves he'll never be one. Butttttt, my big gut feeling tells me we win this one with a good old-fashioned defensive beat down. The Kraken should have a huge day. Lee and RoMac should eat up their run game, and The DB's should get a couple pics from Eli. And finally, the best news of all. The worst QB in the NFL is out, and we should have a better all around offensive showing. This week we tell the rest of the NFL that in a few weeks, the Cowboys will be right smack dab in the middle of the playoff picture!!!

Say again?
