Again. Two or three years ago, Jerry was blamed for putting too much emphasis on front-seven defense in recent drafts (Bill P. might have been to blame ....)
Hoping we win out, but ...
In case we don't, it seems like it's time again to put some resources into point of attack players.
(Off topic .. is trading a 1st round pick, plus a third for wr Roy ... like trading crazy picks for Jason Kidd ... well Roy is younger, anyway ...)
OL: OK, the last OLs we've developed (besides a nice Tuna find in Colombo) were during the Clinton administration (Gurode and Adams) ... draft picks have sucked since then and haven't stepped up.
DL: Spears and Canty, OK but not great. Ratliff has been pretty great, Tank fair as a Jerry retread, hope and a prayer ...
LB: Bradie, pretty fine, DeMarcus, super. Zach and Greg Ellis are at the end of their careers. Backups are old draft picks: Spencer, Bennett and Carp. Spencer (1st rd pick, what happened?), Burnett (good, but hasn't broken into the starter/every down mix as a 2nd rounder should) and .. Carpenter ...
Sorry, OT again in my own thread. But for backup QB: We need someone who can play. Here are the free agents next year ..
Charlie Batch UFA Pittsburgh Steelers
Brock Berlin RFA St. Louis Rams
Kyle Boller UFA Baltimore Ravens
Matt Cassel UFA New England Patriots
Kerry Collins UFA Tennessee Titans
Bruce Eugene RFA Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Charlie Frye UFA Seattle Seahawks
Jeff Garcia UFA Tampa Bay Buccaneers
David Garrard UFA Jacksonville Jaguars
Rex Grossman UFA Chicago Bears
Gibran Hamdan UFA Buffalo Bills
J.P. Losman UFA Buffalo Bills
Luke McCown UFA Tampa Bay Buccaneers
J.T. O'Sullivan UFA San Francisco 49ers
Kyle Orton UFA Chicago Bears
Patrick Ramsey UFA Denver Broncos
Kurt Warner UFA Arizona Cardinals
Anthony Wright UFA New York Giants
