Martz fired from the Rams, Tice fired from the Vikings, this guy fired from that team, etc... PLEASE! These are high-quliaty coaches that desrve better. The NFL, like all sports, is set up so that some teams will win as a result of others losing, which is why it makes no sense to fire good coaches who come out on the short end of the stick. And this brings me to Parcells.
I think it's rediculous to suggest that Parcells has failed. Yes he has made some questionable decisions but he has made more superb ones as well. Let's not lose sight of that. Let's also NOT pay attention to writers like Randy Galloway or Tim Cawlishaw whio are always lookig to be cynical for the sake of being cynical.
For crying out load! Galloway criticized Parcells for not deeming the last game vs. the Rams "meaningless"? This same cynic would have also criticised Parcells had he in fact rendered it "meaningless". Thank Goodness we have a coach who deems all games "meaningfull", but let's not write about that truth!!!
And what about Callishaw - writing that, on a similar timeline, Parcells was part of other east-coast teams that were a year away from the Super Bowl, in an attempt to suggest thast Parcells has failed here in Dallas? PLEASE!!! Then why won't he write about giving Parcells next year to see if he can actually take us to the Super Bowl? Or, why won't these writers write, and everyone else acknowledge, that in Parcells' first two years in Dallas he was asked to play QC and CHutch to see if they would pan out, which is what really set Paercells back. Even Parcells, back then, said that if those QBs did not pan out we would be set back because we'd have to start over. Isn't that in essence what we did this season? But let's ignore that reality, that this is really Parcellls true first season playing with his players!
The final reality is that this past season was truly Parcelss first season where he was not handcuffed with players, or a scouting department, held over from the old Campo days. This season was Parcells' first season doing it all his way, and a lot of good has come of it that we ca build on. That'ss the key. And even this offseason Parcelss had acknowledeged that, because of the freee-agency and cap srtructure, he couldn't patch up all the holes in one offseason. We imporved the CB, DE and overall defensibve play ath the expense of leaving the FS and OL positions exposed. We even had a lot of improvements on offense, building the RB depth and WR rotations.
I think that everyone would agree that with a few more tweaks this defense will be set for years to come, meaning we can patch up the OL, and a small handfull of other positions, this offseason. So why not give Parcells and the rest of the staff that chance to buld on a good foundation put in place this season?
For crying out loud, let's be objective and realistic before we suggest replacing a good coach in Prcells with some other good coach who wrongly juast got fired from some other club. If Parcells wants to come bacl, then let's give him the chance to continue building on the foundation he started because it's solid in my eyes.
